Divorced twice, woman agrees to take permission before seeing her child

A divorce-seeking woman, Hajara Umar, on Monday agreed to the terms of her former husband, Aminu Suleiman, not to contact their child without his permission.

Umar had earlier approached the Shari’a Court sitting in Magajin Gari to dissolve her marriage Suleiman, through Khul’i.

The defendant, who was absent in court, left a letter with the registry.

In  the letter, he wrote: “I know my wife is here to seek for divorce through Khul’i, where a woman returns her dowry in exchange for her freedom.

“For the sake of the girl child that we have, I do not want her to return the dowry. I divorced her twice in the past.

“Today, I am issuing my last divorce pronouncement. Our daughter stays with my mother and Umar should only get access to her with my permission,” Suleiman said.

Umar, agreed to the demands of her former husband.

The Judge, Malam Mu’awiyah Shehu, confirmed the divorce and urged the complainant to uphold the divorce conditions she agreed to
