Atlético Madrid defender Cuti Romero said in an ESPN interview that his fellow countryman Leo Messi should be given the award.
In the interview, Romero said: “The Ballon d’Or should be given to Leo Messi. Until he retires, that’s clear.”
“There is no one like him. Surely when he decides not to play anymore, then we will have to see who to give it to!” he told ESPN.
Cristian Romero made his senior debut for the Argentina national team on June 3, 2021, starting as a center-back in a 1-1 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Chile.
