The Nigerian Army says its troops have rescued 16 kidnapped victims, recovered 281 rustled livestock and arrested suspected terrorist collaborators and logistics suppliers during coordinated operations in Borno, Yobe, Sokoto, Zamfara and Plateau states.
According to an operational update released on Wednesday, the operations were conducted within the last 24 hours and also led to the recovery of suspected hard drugs, mobile phones and other items linked to terrorist activities.
In Borno State, troops of the 222 Battalion intercepted 20 suspected family members of Boko Haram insurgents along the Gezuwa axis in Bama Local Government Area. The group, comprising nine women, two men and nine children, reportedly fled a terrorist camp after an attack by rival ISWAP fighters.
The army also said troops arrested two suspected terrorist collaborators in Geidam, Yobe State, for allegedly supplying hard drugs to terrorists, while two suspected ISWAP logistics suppliers were apprehended in Monguno, Borno State.
In a separate operation, troops rescued a woman abducted in November 2025 in Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno and reunited her with her family after receiving medical attention.
The army said troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA also rescued 14 kidnapped victims, recovered 281 rustled livestock and two motorcycles after engaging terrorists in Shagari Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
It added that separate operations in Sabon Birni, Sokoto State, and Zurmi, Zamfara State, forced fleeing terrorists to abandon two kidnapped victims, one of whom sustained gunshot injuries and was taken to hospital.
In Plateau State, troops arrested a suspect linked to attacks in Southern Kaduna, rescued injured farmers attacked by suspected herders in Mangu, recovered 27 cattle from fleeing attackers and arrested 19 suspects during follow-up operations in Riyom after two soldiers were killed in an ambush.
