Nigerian defence technology company Terra Industries has raised an additional $18 million in strategic funding, bringing its total seed financing to $52 million, according to Disrupt Africa.
The Abuja-based startup develops autonomous security systems designed to protect critical infrastructure across Africa and the wider Global South.
The latest funding comes as Terra prepares to expand in a security market where governments and infrastructure operators are increasingly exploring locally developed technologies to protect critical assets.
The company’s strategy focuses on autonomous systems that can strengthen infrastructure security while reducing reliance on conventional security approaches.
Terra’s latest raise builds on several funding rounds secured earlier this year. BusinessDay reported in January that the company had emerged from stealth after raising $11.75 million, while African Business Communities reported a further $22 million funding round in February.
With the additional $18 million, Terra now ranks among Nigeria’s most heavily funded defence-technology startups, giving it significantly more capital to scale its autonomous-security technology.
The next test will be whether the larger funding base translates into wider deployments, new contracts and expansion beyond Nigeria.
For Terra, the latest raise is more than a bigger balance sheet. It is a stronger financial runway to turn its autonomous-security ambitions into deployments across a growing African security market.
