A 45-year-old man, Oladipo Tope, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over an alleged N9 million car sale fraud.

The defendant, whose address was not disclosed, is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, obtaining money by false pretence and fraudulent conversion.

The prosecutor, Insp. Elijah Adejare, told the court that Tope and others still at large allegedly committed the offences on Nov. 11, 2025, within the Ado-Ekiti Magisterial District.

He said the offences contravened Sections 421, 328, 329(3), 295 and 302(6) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Defence counsel, Mr Balogun Japhet, urged the court to grant his client bail, assuring the court that he would not abscond.

Chief Magistrate Kehinde Awosika granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case until Aug. 24 for hearing.
