The Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology, Aliero (AFUSTA), Kebbi state, has recorded full National Universities Commission (NUC) accreditation for all its 11 academic programmes.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the programmes were presented to the Commission during the October/November 2025 accreditation exercise.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the University, Mustapha Ango, disclosed this in a statement in Birnin Kebbi on Friday.
He explained that the feat was communicated to the University in April, adding that all programmes across seven faculties attained full accreditation status for a period of five years.
He said that this development has placed the institution among the top-performing universities in Nigeria.
He disclosed that the accredited courses include Agriculture, Automobile Technology Education, Biochemistry, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronic, and Engineering.
Others are Electrical/Electronics, Technology Education, Mechanical Engineering, Medicine and Surgery, Metalwork Technology Education, Quantity Surveying, and Zoology.
“This across-the-board success underscores AFUSTA’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence, quality assurance, and global best practices in higher education,” he said.
Ango, while appraising the efforts of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Bashar Danshehu, noted that within his two years in office, he had recorded such historical achievement.
“At the core of this unprecedented transformation is the dynamic, visionary, and result-oriented leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, whose tenure of less than two years has already redefined the developmental trajectory of the University.
“Upon assumption of office, the Vice-Chancellor inherited a University constrained by severe financial limitations, inadequate laboratory infrastructure, and significant accreditation challenges.
“Through strategic foresight, prudent financial management, and effective institutional coordination, he successfully transformed these challenges into opportunities for growth and excellence.”
He said that during the October/November 2024 accreditation exercise, the Vice-Chancellor led the University to achieve 100% accreditation in key programmes, including Nursing Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, and Biology.
“This early milestone laid a solid foundation for the historic 2025 performance and entrenched a culture of accountability, quality assurance, and academic excellence within the institution.”
Ango noted that the full accreditation of the programmes shall be a point of reference, a statement of resilience, visionary leadership, and institutional rebirth.
“Prof. Danshehu, has emerged as a beacon of excellence, demonstrating that with vision, discipline, and commitment, even the most challenging circumstances can yield extraordinary outcomes,” he said.
