Afrobeats star, Adekunle Gold, has officially announced the upcoming release of a new five-track project titled FUJI XTRA, scheduled to drop on May 8.
The singer shared the news via his official Instagram page, featuring vibrant cover art that showcases him as a giant figure overlooking a dense landscape of Lagos buildings and cultural landmarks.
In his announcement, the artiste shared his motivation for the extension, writing in his caption that there were still more stories to tell and so he made 5 XTRA songs for his fans while thanking them for walking the journey with him and promising to see them on tour soon.
The project serves as an expansion of his previous musical work, introducing five new tracks that feature a mix of established and rising stars.
These new additions include ‘Formation’ featuring Olamide, ‘Shake Shake’ featuring Tml Vibez, and ‘Blue Fire’ featuring his wife Simi, alongside the solo tracks ‘Life Of The Faaji’ and ‘I Got Wiser On My Own.’
This release appears to lean into a fusion of contemporary sounds and traditional influences, as evidenced by the title and the lead collaboration with Olamide which pairs Gold’s signature style with veteran rap energy.
The announcement has already generated significant buzz online, with speculation focusing on the details in the artwork, which includes references to Lagos street life and iconic statues, as a sign that the new music will remain deeply rooted in his Nigerian heritage.
Beyond the new music, the singer used the post to hint at his return to the stage, closing his message by telling fans he would see them on tour soon.
This release serves as a bridge between his previous records and his upcoming live performances, ensuring that his audience has fresh material to enjoy before the tour begins.
With the countdown to May 8, FUJI XTRA stands as a highly anticipated addition to the collection of work.
