World Cup runners-up France beat Belgium 1-0 at the Merkur Spiel arena in Germany to qualify for the quarter finals.
It was a very thrilling game with lots of efforts and momentum but for long nobody had the finishing touches for the goal.
This is in spite of the fact that both teams paraded a good number of quality players.
France Coach Didier Deschamps made good substitutes at the second half that rose the pressure for France.
A goal eventually came for France in the 85th minute, an own goal from Jan Vertonghen, the Belgium defender, who earned the burden from a cross from Jules Kounde,  the French right back.
Ngolo Kante ,one of France key players for this EURO, showed that he could boss out players even with his short height and was the highest rated of the French team.
France held the win to the full time. And Joules Kounde was awarded the Man of the Match of the game.
With the victory, France will, on Friday, meet Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal in the semi-final.
