Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is packing 2024 filled with monumental projects.
Among such are three hospitals covering major areas of healthcare: children, mental and general.
This is as the government will start the construction of the Lekki Airport.
These were disclosed by the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, according to THE PUNCH.
Omotoso said Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s “ambitious N2.2tn budget” would be utilised judiciously for infrastructure development among which hospitals and the new Lekki airport would be prioritised.
“There will be so many ambitious projects. First of all, the projects that we are doing, we are going to be able to complete them. Messey Seat Hospital. This is going to be the largest, biggest pediatric hospital in Africa by the time it’s completed.
“The Mental Health Centre in Ketu Ejinrin. It’s also going to be completed. Mental health is a big deal. People don’t pay attention to it. They talk about headaches and other things happening to people. But mental health is quite important. And the Lagos State government is giving attention to that. So, that hospital, the 500-bed hospital, will be completed.
“It’s not just going to be a hospital. It’s going to be a rehabilitation centre,” he said, adding, “The hospital we’re building in Ojo, the Ojo General Hospital – the first in decades – will also be completed.”
He further said, “The new airport that we are building in the Lekki area, of course, is going to come on board, too, and so many other big, big projects that will make for a mega city that the administration of Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu is going to be doing.”
He assured residents of Lagos of “exciting times, exciting moments and great, great projects that we are going to be doing to provide employment, to make comfort for Lagosians” in the new year.
