A total of 74 athletes and officials are representing Ekiti at the 2021 National Youth Games (NYG) at Ilorin in Kwara.
Kunle Adeyemi, the Acting General Manager of Ekiti Sports Council, told newsmen on Thursday in Ado-Ekiti that he has confidence in the contingent’s abilities to do the state proud.
”I am sure and confident that this contingent will make us proud by winning many medals,” he said.
The acting general manager added that the athletes were all excited and in high spirits, because their welfare has been guaranteed by the state government.
He said further that participating in the games would provide exposure for the athletes and also give them opportunity to compete with their counterparts from other states.
Adeyemi listed the events Ekiti athletes were taking part in at the games as athletics, boxing, gymnastics, tennis, judo, weightlifting, cricket, beach volleyball and chess.
