Fuji legend, Wasiu Ayinde, has saluted his band members as pillars behind his success.
Ayinde, otherwise called K1 de Ultimate, rose to limelight in 1984, with his ‘Talazo ‘84’ album and has since remained on the scene.
Like many fuji artistes, he has consistently run a full band with whom he has traversed different parts of the country and the world.
But while many may see the drummers and singers as the biggest beneficiaries of their relationship, the musician seems to see the relationship from a different perspective.
According to him, they have been everything to his growth.
Speaking during the inauguration of his resort in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, he saluted them for ever being there for him.
“Without you, I would not have been where I am today,” he said.
The singer, who is also the Mayegun of Yorubaland, also thanked other people who have been instrumental to his success.
Among such are his family and long-time friend and fan, Bolaji Basia.
Apart from having deepened the use of the sakara drum in fuji music, Wasiu is also known to have consistently modernised the genre, a factor that has aided its survival.
