Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed that billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote has maintained a longstanding relationship with his family and has advised him on money management since childhood.
Davido made the revelation while speaking about his relationship with Dangote during a recent interview in Lagos.
He said Dangote drove his mother home from the hospital after she gave birth to him and had remained close to the Adeleke family for decades.
“Aliko Dangote drove my mom home from the hospital when she gave birth to me,” he said.
Davido said Dangote had consistently advised him to save and manage his money whenever they met.
“Anytime I see him, he still tells me, ‘David, save your money.’ He’s been saying that since I was a baby,” he said.
The singer said the advice had remained relevant throughout his career in the entertainment industry.
Davido also described billionaires as ordinary people despite their enormous wealth, noting that their lifestyles were often different from public perception.
He added that Dangote was a close associate of his father, businessman Adedeji Adeleke, stressing that the relationship between their families had lasted for decades.
