The All Progressives Congress (APC) has restated its position that no individual will be allowed to participate in its membership registration/ revalidation exercise by proxy.

Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima, Chairman, Yobe APC Membership Registration, Revalidation and Update Committee, disclosed this in Damaturu during the training of officials of the exercise.

He said individuals no matter how highly placed must attend the registration physically.

“ President Muhammadu Buhari went to Daura and registered, and now Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will go to his home town and revalidate his registration.

“ Therefore, we are not going to allow any registration by proxy; you have to be physically present in your unit ward for people to see you before you are registered,” Galadima said.

The chairman said defectors from other political parties must surrender their old parties’ cards at the registration centres, before being issued with new APC cards

Galadima said annual membership dues would be reintroduced in the party after the registration.

Responding, state Deputy Governor Idi Barde-Gubana, charged the trainees to ensure they follow due process and put the interest of the party first.

“ I will like to enjoin stakeholders to ensure effective mobilisation of every member by taking advantage of this opportunity to register with our great party.

“ In like manner, I wish to charge the committee and supervisors to ensure rancour-free and smooth exercise in the interest of the party,” he said.
