The National Orientation Agency (NOA), has implored Nigerians to accord all the country’s national symbols their deserved respect as patriots.
The director, NOA in Oyo State, Mrs Dolapo Dosunmu, made this appeal in a statement signed and issued to newsmen in Ibadan on Wednesday.
She made the appeal while felicitating with Nigerians on the celebration of the 2020 National Ordinance Day (NOD).
Dosunmu urged Nigerians to have positive attitudinal change towards the country’s anthem, currency, flag, passport and other symbols in order to project the country’s image positively.
The NOA director called on every Nigerian to place the country first in all their respective endeavours.
Dosunmu congratulated Nigerians as they celebrated the day, urging them to stay safe, imbibe a healthy way of living, show love to one another and pray for the peace and unity of Nigeria.
The theme of the 2020 NOD is, “Importance of National Identity to National Security and Citizens’ Welfare”.
The NOD, which is celebrated every Sept. 16 is to promote the national symbols; emphasise their significance; highlight their importance and educate Nigerians on what should be their attitude to the symbols.
This is especially as the symbols exemplifiy unity, and bind all Nigerians together as one people in the same nation.
