The Kano State Censorship Board has sealed Kausar Unique Empire Ltd., popularly known as “Back to Back,” over alleged indecent advertisements circulated on social media.
The board said the action followed intelligence reports and complaints from residents, who described the shop’s promotional content as inappropriate and offensive.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the board’s spokesman, Abdullahi Sani-Sulaiman, said the shop was sanctioned for allegedly using indecent language and explicit illustrations in its advertisements.
He said the promotional materials violated the state’s cultural values, moral standards and regulations guiding commercial advertising.
Sani-Sulaiman said the board acted after receiving several complaints from concerned residents over the nature of the advertisements and their potential impact on society.
He warned business operators against using digital platforms to circulate offensive, immoral or objectionable content, stressing that the board would not tolerate materials that undermine public decency.
The spokesman reaffirmed the board’s commitment to sanitising public spaces and online platforms through sustained monitoring and enforcement. He urged traditional medicine vendors and other business owners to comply with the law and accepted societal values.
He added that the board would continue working with relevant stakeholders to promote responsible advertising and curb unethical promotional practices across the state.
