Chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, has vowed not resign due to pressure from top politicians that include the All Progressives Congress Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.
Oshiomhole had called for his resignation following allegations of bias and his displeasure with the way INEC postponed the presidential election.
Responding to a question on this today during a briefing, Yakubu said he had no plan to resign as there was no reason whatsoever to do so.
He said, “There is no reason whatsoever to resign. No reason to even contemplate that.”
Besides, the INEC boss rejected a call to reshuffle electoral commissioners, saying such could not happen on the eve of the elections.
