Controversial online policeman, VeryDarkMan, has said that he is prepared to damn the consequence if he is found guilty in the defamation case that veteran lawyer, Femi Falana, alongside his children – Falz and Folakemi – has threatened to institute against him.
Falana has accused him of defamation based on his claim on a video in which crossdresser Bobrisky allegedly claimed he enjoyed undue privilege while in prison.
The lawyer’s chamber had written VDM, asking him to retract his statement that allegedly suggested Falana and his artiste son, Falz, might have been involved in the foul game with Bobrisky.
He was given 24 hours to do so or get ready for a legal matter.
Falz’s sister, Folake, later on Friday said the family would go to court since VDM had refused to apologise.
Reacting to this, however, he said he was ready to face them and bear any negative consequence that may arise:.
VDM said in a video: “There is no problem. Highest I will be locked up for six months or one year.”
Meanwhile, Section 375 of the Criminal Code Act in Nigeria, which borders on defamation, says:
” Publication of defamatory matter: Subject to the provisions of this Chapter, any person who publishes any defamatory matter, is guilty of a misdemeanor and is liable to imprisonment for one year; and any person who publishes any defamatory matter knowing it to be false, is liable to imprisonment for two years.”
But VDM insisted on Saturday:
‘’Imagine Bobrisky saying that he paid N15 million to EFCC to drop the money laundering charges… That should be disturbing to all Nigerians for crying out loud. Imagine Bobrisky saying instead of taking him to prison, one Godfather called that they should give him an apartment outside the prison. That is disturbing and worrisome… Now to think some people that we thought were persecuted are outside chilling… Are you people even seeing the problem inside that thing that was released? Instead of us joining hands to fight this agency that partook in corruption, everybody is coming for me because you said your father’s name was mentioned.
“Was your father’s name not in the recording? Am I the one that put Femi Falana and Falz’s name inside the recording? The only thing I said was that If this turns out to be true, I will not have any more respect for them. And I even went on to say that I refuse to believe… What did I say there? The next thing Falz came with a letter to retract…Retract what? Am I the one that placed your name there? what did I say there?
“Now you are saying you want to take me to court. There is no problem. Highest I will be locked up for six months or one year.”
