As congratulatory messages continue to pour in for Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, South Africa-based businessman, Chief Onyekachukwu Onyeka, says the Governor-elect’s transformation strides gave him victory.
Onyeka, a former President of Anambra State Association, South Africa (ASA-SA), in a message, said Soludo’s ability to transform any sector was evident at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), where he served as governor.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Monday in Abuja, Onyeka said that Soludo was the first governor to win 19 local government areas (LGAs), out of 21..
According to Onyeka, this is evidence that the people in the state know his worth and pedigree.
“I believe his ability made people in the state to refuse selling their votes during the election.
“It is with a heart filled with joy that I rejoice with us, Ndi Anambra (Anambra people), on this great feat of electing an intellectual who knows the job, as the Governor of our dear state,’’ the Ozubulu, Anambra-born businessman said.
Onyeka noted that the past months had been difficult for the state, with palpable fear of insecurity and agitations that filled the people’s hearts.
“It came with the fear of losing our state to the hands of the unknown, but the end justified that all the agitations can be doused with the good personality of your type (Soludo).
“This is evident from the moment the result of the election started filtering in, it is like having a taste of chilled water under a scorching sun.
“With your victorious announcement to the ears of Ndi Anambra and Ndi Igbo (Igbo people), all hearts melted totally.
“All the congratulations to Ndi Anambra were in order from the various states, Federal Government and other countries, because the evidence of your ability to transform is evident.
“It brought financial security to all our efforts in the banking sector till date,’’ Onyeka said.
Onyeka thanked God for giving Soludo to Anambra, adding that from the day of the political debate, he made Anambra people know he was fully aware of their problems.
“At the debate, he declared his intention to create a State of Emergency on the roads in the state.
“Sincerely, that was laudable, also with your boldness to let the world know without fear that you know about the agitations going on in the South-East even when others denied it due to fear of intimidation.
“The journey has just begun, and we anticipate great things for our dear state in the very near future as you take the mantle of leadership in grand style.
“We are not unaware of your morals and principles of maintaining standards, which we will eagerly succumb to for us to jump on your bandwagon for the betterment of Ndi Anambra,’’ Onyeka said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that Onyeka was also the former President Ozubulu Development Union, South Africa (ODU-SA).
He prayed God to give Soludo the grace and ability to gather good men that would help him develop the state and leave his name on the sands of time as the best governor.
