Manchester United’s Captain, Bruno Fernandes, is proving to be a friend in need and friend indeed to just-sacked coach, Eric ten Hag, as he has urged fans to remember the good things he did for the club even as he leaves.

The club’s management, on Monday, announced Hag had ‘left’ his post, a development that had long been anticipated following the club’s uninspiring shows.

Apart from admitting that the entire squad had not delivered well, Fernandes said Hag still had some legacy that should be kept alive.

In an IG post, he noted, “Thanks for everything, boss! I appreciate the trust and the moments we share together, I wish you all the best.

“Even knowing the last period hasn’t been great from all of us, I hope you fans can keep with you the good things Erik has done for our club.”
With the 2-1 defeat to West Ham being the last straw that broke the camel’s back, the club had said in a statement on Monday: “Erik ten Hag has left his role as Manchester United men’s first-team manager. Erik was appointed in April 2022 and led the club to two domestic trophies, winning the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024. We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future.”
Assistant coach Ruud van Nistelrooy has been put in interim charge, and remains the favourite to get the job on a permanent basis. The likes of Julian Nagelsmann, Gareth Southgate, Thomas Frank and Ruben Almiron are also in the running.\
