Yemi Alade signs deal with Universal Music Group

Nigerian Singer Yemi Alade has signed a licensing deal with Universal Music group Africa/France.

Universal Music Group also known in the United States as UMG Recordings (and abbreviated as UMG) is an American global music corporation that is a subsidiary of the French media conglomerate, Vivendi.

The Universal Music Group’s west African affiliate is in partnership with Universal Music France (UMF)

Alade, one of Africa’s most creatively and commercially successful artists through her record label signed the deal with the global licensing in agreement with Universal Music Africa (UMA).

Based on the multi-year agreement, UMA would serve as the exclusive worldwide record music partner for the singer with her label Effyzzie Music Group.

Also, UMF would serve as the international roll-out partner for the project and the agreement would take effect immediately.

The shows UMG’s would strengthen its position in this part of the world through UMA and builds upon the enormous success.

Alade emerged in 2009 as the winner of the popular Peak Talent Show,following her victory on the widely seen Peak competition, then released her debut single “Fimisile”.

A deal with the Effyzzie Music Group yielded the 2013 international hit single “Johnny,” which was included on her debut album ‘King of Queen’ in 2014.

The album which was mixed of reggae, R&B etc featured a number of collaborations between notable producers and guest artists like Phyno and Chihidna

Her follow-up album, ‘Mama Africa’ was released in 2016 where she featured the singles “Do as I Do” and “Ferrari”, with a companion EP of Mama Afrique was followed in 2017.

The Afro pop singer and songwriter whose real name is Yemi Eberechi Alade, gained prominence after winning the Peak Talent Show in 2009, and is best known for her hit single #Johnny.

Alade became the first African female artist to reach one million subscribers on YouTube in July.

Recently, she was featured on “Don’t Jealous Me”, a track from #Beyoncé’s soundtrack album #TheLionKing: #TheGift

Her new song ‘woman of steel’ which was released on Aug. 30.

YouTube honours Yemi Alade for becoming first female African artiste to pass 1 million subscribers

Afropop singer, Yemi Alade, has received an award from American video-sharing website, YouTube, for becoming the first African female artiste to pass 1 million subscribers.

The 30-year-old singer shared pictures from the ceremony on Instagram said it’s coming after six years.

Beyoncé features Tiwa Savage, Wizkid, Yemi Alade, Burna Boy, Mr Eazi in new ‘Lion King’ album

Global icon, Beyonce has enlisted Nigerian music superstars Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade, Burna Boy, Tekno and Mr Eazi in new ‘Lion King’ album.

Beyonce had earlier announced that she worked with African artists and producers to retain the authenticity of the sound.

The artists’ features were unveiled in the track list which she described as “a love letter to Africa” with Nigerian and African stars including Shatta Wale lending their vocals.

The 14-song album will include several original Beyoncé tracks, as well as collaborations with the likes of JAY-Z, Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino, and Pharrell.

Other African acts on ‘The Lion King: The Gift’ notably are Moonchild Sanelly, Busiswa, Salatiel and Shatta Wale often in collaboration with the other artists on the album.

The album contains ‘Don’t Jealous Me’ (a collaboration between Tekno, Yemi Alade and Mr. Eazi), ‘Brown Skin Girl’ (Wizkid with Blue Ivy Carter, Beyoncé, and Saint Jhn) and ‘Already’ (Beyoncé and Shatta Wale).

Others are ‘My Power’ (Busiswa, Yemi Alade, Moonchild Sanelly, Tierra Whack with Beyoncé), ‘Water’ (Salatiel, Pharrell and Beyonce), ‘Ja Ara E’ (Burna Boy and Beyonce) and ‘Keys to the Kingdom’ (Tiwa Savage and Mr Eazi).

Speaking to ABC about the soundtrack, Beyonce said, “I wanted to make sure we found the best talent from Africa. Not just use some of the sounds and do my interpretation of it.

“This soundtrack is a love letter to Africa. I wanted it to be authentic about what is beautiful about the music in Africa,” she said.

‘The Lion King: The Gift’ will premiere Friday, July 19.

Yemi Alade makes history, hits 1m subscribers on YouTube

Music diva, Yemi Alade has made history as the first female African artist to hit one million subscribers on video streaming platform, YouTube.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that this feat comes months after Alade became the second Nigerian artist to hit hundred million views on YouTube for the song, ‘Johnny’.

The ‘Oh My Gosh’ singer took to her Instagram page @yemialade to announce the feat and reflect on her musical journey of six years.

She wrote, “God is the GREATEST, started this journey six years ago. Thanks to everyone streaming / watching my videos and music. Godbless us all.”

With this feat, Alade joins other entertainers who have over one million subscribers, including the defunct P-Square (1.2 million), Davido (1.5 million) and Diamond Platnumz (2.1 million).

Her debut studio album ‘King of Queens’ was released on October 2, 2014, by Effyzzie Music Group.

Alade collaborated with producers such as Selebobo, Sizzle Pro, Shady Bizniz, Philkeyz, Young D, GospelOnDeBeatz, DIL, OJB Jezreel, Mr Chidoo, Fliptyce, EL Mcee and Beat Nation.

The album was preceded by three singles: “Johnny”, “Tangerine” and “Kissing”. It features guest appearances and skits from Bovi, R2Bees, Phyno, Chidinma, DIL, Selebobo and Diamond Platnumz.

She has performed around the world and shared the stage and songs with the likes of Mary J. Blige, Shina Peters, Wizkid, Becca, M.I, Waje and others.

Afro pop singer, Yemi Eberechi Alade, a.k.a Yemi Alade, has hinted the release of her new song ‘ Woman of steel’.

The album is reportedly set to feature the Grammy Award winner Angelina Kidjo, Nigeria celebrity Funke Akindele and a renowned music star Duncan Mighty.

The Effyzzie singer made this announcement on her Instagram handle @yemi_aladi, where she dropped the following message, “#WOMANOFSTEEL album out soon #yemialade”.

The 30- year- old singer decided to post it on her instragram page in order to excite her fans and also to inform them of her new project.

The singer recently released a song ‘Oh My Gosh’ remix, where she featured American rapper, Rick Ross.

‘Women of steel’ is her fifth project in five years and it will be follow-up to her 2017 album, Black Magic.’

The afro pop singer hit one hundred million view mark on her YouTube platform recently, making her the second Nigerian artiste to attain the feat.

Alade made this achievement with the video of her hit single ‘Johnny’ which she released in 2014.

Alade made her musical debut in an all-girl group called Noty Spices in 2005, but her music became widely popular after she won the Peak Talent Show in 2009.

Yemi Alade has also won a number of awards including the Best African Female at the 2015 and 2016 MTV Awards and recently, ”Best Performer” at the 2018 edition.

Alade, who could not contain her excitement, while appreciating her fans on her instagram handle, @yemialade, said: “ Thank you all for the blessing and supporting me all day-EVERYDAY. We are #7MILLIONFOLLOWERS.’’

Afropop star, Yemi Alade amd Grammy award-winning American rapper, Rick Ross have released the video for their latest collaboration, ‘Oh My Gosh’ remix.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the song is an upbeat, hiphop- styled take from the original song with Ross lending some bars to the DJ Coublon produced-mix.

The colourful video features Yemi Alade and some vibrant dancers in eccentric Ankara pieces swaying to the music. Some cuts show the two singers cozied up as they vocalise the song.

Yemi Alade had earlier shared a video of herself on Instagram @yemialade, teaching Ross how to dance shaku-shaku which the American superstar seemed to get a hang on.
