Kofi Police arrest 3 suspected kidnappers

Kogi State Police Command has arrested three suspected kidnappers and recovered twelve cows in Kogi State.

This was contained in a press statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Kogi State Police Command, DSP William Ovye Aya which was made available to newsmen.

The statement reads: “On the 4Th of January, 2022, based on intelligence tip-off on criminal hideouts along Auchi-Okene road, consequently, the Divisional Police Officer, Okene Division, Muhammad Nasir Isa, promptly swung into action, mobilized his team and moved to the scene and arrested three suspects namely; Mohammed Shehu, Idris Suleiman and Abubakar Ibrahim

“The suspects confessed belonging to a gang terrorizing Okene and its environs. Items recovered from them include, One Dane gun, two Cartridges, food and the sum of N45,000. Investigation is in progress

“Suspects will be arraigned in court on completion of the investigation.

“In another development, the operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, attached to Okene Division in an intelligence led operations in collaboration with the Professional Hunters Association along Okene-Lagos road on Monday intercepted and recovered twelve Cows suspected to have been rustled. When the suspects sighted the security forces, abandoned the Cows and ran away. Efforts is on to trail suspects with a view to apprehend them to face justice.

Kogi Police nab gunman

The Kogi State Police Command has arrested arrested a robbery suspect, Umaru Mohammed. He was nabbed at Irunda-Isanlu during a stop and search operation.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Police Public Relation Office of the Command DSP William Ovye Aya which was made available to newsmen on Thursday evening.

According to the PPRO, the suspect a 25 years old is a member of a gang responsible for series of violent crimes including armed robbery, kidnapping around Isanlu and it’s environs.

Ayah revealed that the arrest was made possible following a report received from a patriotic citizen that some suspected criminal elements were sighted around Isanlu axis.

He said that the Police operatives promptly swung into action, trailed the suspects to Koro Village a boundary between Kogi and Kwara States where Umaru Muhammed was arrested.

He noted that upon the arrest of the suspect, other members of the gang escaped.

The Police spokesman noted that some of the exhibits recovered from the suspect are; one locally made gun using AK-47 rifle live ammunition, two AK-47 live ammunition, one single pump action barrel gun, one matchet, dangerous local charms among others.

He added that the suspect had confessed to the crime and will be arraigned in court on completion of investigation.

Meanwhile , the Commissioner of Police, CP Idrisu Dauda Dabban has reassured the people of Kogi State that the Command is committed to ensuring adequate security of life and property in synergy with other security agencies in the State.

He enjoined members of the public to sharpen their power of observation and report any suspicious movement or activities around their neighborhood to the Police or any other security agencies in the State.

Anambra poll: Kogi Police deny imposing transport levy on personnel

The Kogi State Police Command has debunked reports that it directed its personnel to pay N10,000 as transport fare to and fro Anambra, for the Governorship election in the State.

The clarification was issued in a statement on Tuesday by William Anya, the commands Spokesperson, who insisted that the report is false, malicious and mischievous.

“The Command did not request for any amount of money as transport fare from Officers deployed for the assignment.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Idrisu Dauda Dabban psc (+), fdc while addressing the Officers deployed for the election stated that, the Police authority is responsible for the transportation of its personnel to and fro Anambra State. The Command is surprised at the false and unfounded report on social media.

The statement added that “the Commissioner of Police urges the public to discountenance such mischievous information, while he ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police Investigation to commence investigation into the alledged extortions.
