Those conspiring against me are now wearing black while I am wearing white – Wike

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has again mocked the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party.

He said the leaders were now wearing black protesting like students’ unions, while he is wearing white and enjoying.

He said so on Thursday during the inauguration of a road in the state.

According to him, he warned the leadership against breaking the agreement of allowing the power to move to the South.

Wike expressed delight at the victory of the President-elect, and the loss of the PDP in Rivers.

Referring to the Rivers PDP’s victory in the state, he said, “We got 3 over 3 but the got 0 over 3.”

He also mocked his predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi, for campaigning that the APC would return all property seized from Igbos in the state if its candidate is elected.

According to Wike, it is funny that Amaechi never did so when he was Rivers State Governor for eight years.

Amaechi graduates with Second Class Upper Degree in Law

The immediate past Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has graduated from the Baze University, Abuja, with a second class upper degree in Law.
Amaechi, in a statement issued by his Media Office on Saturday in Abuja, was admitted to the Bachelor of Law Degree Programme when serving as a minister.

According to the statement, Amaechi, in spite of his tight schedules, combined the rigours of academic studies and his official work and achieved the remarkable grade.
It said the former Minister, in his numerous inspections of projects under the Ministry, was seen reading books in between his engagements with the contractors and workers on sites.

”Amaechi as a Minister, conceptualised the remodelling and the revolution in the railway transportation sector with a brand new Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge rail line started and completed under his supervision.
”He also completed the Warri-Itakpe rail line, ground breaking of Kano-Daura-Maradi rail line; and the ongoing Kano-Kaduna standard gauge rail line.

”In the maritime sector, he pursued an aggressive security policy of the Buhari administration toward ensuring piracy free along Nigeria’s waterways and the Gulf of Guinea, which is code named the Deep Blue Project.
”Also, under his watch, inland Dry-Ports were established across the country. He played a pivotal role in ensuring the commencement and completion of the Lekki Deep Seaport within the stipulated time.

”His achievements in the Transport sector are regarded by experts as long lasting legacy infrastructures that are springboard for Nigeria economic development,” the statement said.
Amaechi resigned his appointment as Minister of Transportation to run for the 2023 Presidential primary election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
And in June, he became second runner up at the APC presidential primary election, trailing behind the winner, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Amaechi speaks on departing father-in-law

Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, buried his father-in-law, the Late Boniface Nwankwo, on Friday at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Enugwu Ukwu, Anambra.

Amaechi, in a statement by his Media Office, described the late Nwankwo as a man who feared God and impacted so many lives through his good deeds.

”My late father-in-law left an impactful life and I appreciate the family for allowing me to marry their daughter.
”When he was alive, he always cared for and supported everyone around him, and most importantly, he had the fear of God,” Amaechi said.
The late Nwankwo was born on Dec. 5, 1939 into the family of Pa Onwuatuegwu Nwankwo in Enugu State. He died on Aug. 11, aged 83 years.

The event was attended virtually by the wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, the Governor of Anambra State, amongst other dignitaries.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has threatened his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, with some information he said he had on him.
Wike issued the treat on Monday while lambasting Amaechi for castigating him (Wike) over his absence at the burial of a leader in the state, Alabo Graham-Douglas.

Amaechi had carpeted him, and allegedly saying the deceased deserved a state burial.
According to Wike, however, Amaechi has no moral right to so accuse him.
“If I release what I have on you, even your wife will leave you,” he said.
He said his government had done a lot for the departed when he was alive, adding that the government spent N50m on his treatment.

“When I saw you people have brought politics into the burial, I decided to stay back. We like to eulogise the dead, but don’t know how to eulogise the living,” he said.

“What will the former minister (Amaecchi) tell them (Rivers voters) that he brought?

“I was a minister. As I sit here I can count what I brought as Minister of State to Rivers. So you were the main minister of the lucrative ministry. What did you bring to Rivers? Not one thing, not one.”

These are the words of the Rivers State Governor, Nyeson Wike as he lambasted former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, saying he brought ‘nothing’ to the state while in office.

According to him, when he was Minister (of Education), he made his impact felt.

Wike said this while while signing more contracts agreement with Julius Berger, including for two new flyovers.

He had exploited the opportunity to also sell the candidacy of Sim Fubara, PDP’s governorship standard bearer in next year’s election, “It is certain Fubara is the next governor. He is taking over from me. It is PDP that will win the state.

“All who want to run in other parties I wish them bad luck. I don’t understand why they would want to waste their money on running for governorship in this state. What will they tell the people?

“What will the former minister (Amaecchi) tell them (Rivers voters) that he brought?

“Now they removed you. You now want to come and bring somebody as governor. It will not happen.

Hon. Rotimi Amaech has vowed to work for the success of All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Tinubu defeated Amaechi and others at the just concluded presidential primaries, but he has congratulated the flag bearer, an attested to his capacity to tirumph.

Amaechi, a former Minister of transportation, in a congratulatory letter obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday, assured of his commitment to ensure Tinubu’s success at the polls.

“Congratulations on your well-deserved victory at the APC Presidential Convention held on June 7 – 8 and extend my best wishes as you prepare for the 2023 Presidential Elections.

“I am confident that your victory will re-energise the progressive ideals of our great party APC, buttressed by your mission of a Common Sense Revolution which led to the defeat of PDP in the 2015 general elections.

“As you embark on this historic journey, I wish to assure you of my commitment to your success at the polls in 2023.

”I ultimately look forward to providing the necessary support to ensure that we develop a prosperous country for all Nigerians,” Amaechi said.

Tinubu polled 1,271 votes at the APC presidential primary, defeating 13 others including Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who scored 235 and former Transportation Minister, Amaechi who polled the second highest votes of 316.

BREAKING: Amaechi beats Osinbajo at APC convention as VP scores 235

Former Transport Minister, Rotimi Amaechi, beat the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, in the All Progressives Congress primary election.

Osinbajo recorded 235 votes while Amaechi got 316.

Osinbajo had slugged it out with many contestants, although a good number of them withdrew from the race along the line.

He contested with his former mentor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, with some people saying it was a sign of ingratitude.

Osinbajo was rumoured to be President Muhammadu Buhari’s candidate although the President never confirmed that.

Buhari, indeed, told the party that all he wanted was a level-playing ground.

Former Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi, scored 316 in the All Progressives Congress presidential primary.

Although it may not be the highest score, it is far above what Pastor Tunde Bakare got.

The latter recorded zero.

Amaechi is one of the most vocal aspirants, coming from the South-South, although he also claims to the South-East.

He had noted he was the most competent and experienced, saying he had been House Speaker, two-term governor and a Minister for five years.

An All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential aspirant, Rotimi Amaechi, has highlighted why he believes he is a better aspirant than Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello.

According to him, he is better experienced.

This is as he assured that he would run an all-inclusive government, if he clinches his party’s ticket and wins in the general election.
Amaechi, a former Minister of Transportation, in a statement on Friday, said if elected President, everyone would be a stakeholder and contribute to nation building.

He made the remarks during a consultative visit to the Kogi governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, and delegates of the party at the Government House in Lokoja on Friday.
Amaechi, who lauded Bello for his ambition to be President in his forties, however said he is the most experienced of all the aspirants, strong enough to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).
“This is the 28th state that I have visited in the course of my consultations. I’m not one of the aspirants, I am the leading aspirant in the party.

”Again, I welcome my friend Gov. Bello who wants to run, he is a young man, he is entitled to run for the office of the President but I have more experience in governance and leadership roles than him.
“I will carry everybody along. To appoint the Minister coming from Kogi, I will come to you people and allow you to nominate whom you want.
”The reason for that, is to get everybody involved so that you can approach your Minister and your Minister will know that he is responsible to you.
“Please don’t vote for anybody else, vote for me. As Speaker, I was Chairman of Speakers’ Forum, as Governor, I was the Chairman of Governors’ Forum twice, as DG of President Buhari Campaign, I managed everybody, I managed the campaign, that’s experience.

”And at the end of the day, we elected President Buhari. The first time in Nigeria that we removed an incumbent government. So we were determined as we are determined now,” he said.
Responding, Bello, who was represented by his Deputy, Dr Edward Onoja, welcomed his co-aspirant.
Bello said: ”We believe that God will give Nigeria the best product that can secure, unite and foster peace in the country.

”We appreciate that you even remembered to come to Kogi State. To have gone round 28 States, it shows stamina, it shows strength. We wish you well,” he said.(

Don’t judge me by what people say I am – Amaechi to delegates as Buratai joins him in Bauchi

Former Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi, has urged delegates of the All Progressives not to judgehim by what people think and say about him.

Rather, he wants them to consider his deeds.

This is as Gov. Muhammad Badaru of Jigawa State, said he would nto contest against Mr Rotimi Amaechi in the 2023 presidential election.

Badaru stated this when Amaechi met with delegates from the state in Dutse on Wednesday.

“There will be no contest between me and Ameachi. It is either I run or he runs, but for sure, I cannot run against him,” Badaru said.

Earlier, the former minister, who appealed to the APC delegates to vote for him because he is competent and a detribalised Nigerian.

Amaechi added that of all the aspirants seeking the presidential seat, he is the person with both the legislative and executive experiences, saying they have made him to understand Nigeria better.

“Judge me by past records, not what people think and say I am. I have to be the president of Nigeria because of my trajectory.”

“It would not be fair for the north to abandon the south-south in its hours of need because of the long standing political relationship between the two regions,” Ameachi said.

The presidential aspirant was accompanied on the visit by a former Chief of Army Staff and Nigerian Ambassador to Benin Republic, Gen. Tukur Buratai, and a former Inspector-General of Police, Suleiman Abba, among others.
