The Redeemed Christian Church of God has taken an unprecedented decision by suspending two of its serving pastors for alleged homosexuality.

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E.A. Adeboye, has narrated how the corruption in Nigeria shocked one of the church members.
The woman was given a N3m contract but was asked to put another ‘3’ behind the figure to make it N33m.
He also told the story of another fellow who was given the contract to tar a road that had already been tarred.
The man of God narrated the stories at the Redemption Camp on Saturday, during his sermon at the Holy Ghost programme.
He said, “We talk about corruption in Nigeria. Why do you think corruption has become so deep? It is because we Christians, who are supposed to be peculiar people, are not making any difference. It’s so difficult to even know who is who.
“You must be as pure as light. People must be able to see you at a distance and know that this is a candidate for heaven. In your behaviour, character, you must be different. If you want to compromise because of promotion, let them take their promotion because you are a peculiar person.
“The world will hate you because of your standard because your standard is that of God.
“One of my daughters got a contract to tar a road in one of the states in Nigeria. She gave a proposal of N3 million, but they asked her to put N33 million. She was surprised, turned down the offer, and said I am a child of God. How will I spend the money?” They looked at her as if she was somebody who dropped from the sky.
“Another child of mine told another story. She applied for a contract. They gave her to go and tar a road. She got to the road and found that the road was already tarred. She came back and told them there must have been a mistake. They said, ‘What is your problem, collect your money and give us our own.’”
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor EA Adeboye, has made a candid declaration about the battle against sex.
According to him, it is easier to defeat the devil than do a girl smiling at one.
His solution to this is to run away from any form of sexual temptation, adding that, at 82 and despite his anointing, he still runs faster than ever before.
According to ‘The Punch’, he stated these during a sermon at the just concluded Ministers & Workers Conference of RCCG America 1, which consists of North, Central & Caribbean with the theme: “The Glory Ahead”.
During the sermon shared on his YouTube page on Friday, Adeboye noted that Samson, who was a judge in Israel, fell into sexual immorality despite the anointing over him.
He said, “Somebody says, at your age, why are you still running? I run faster than before because the closer you get to the finishing point, the more careful you must be.
“Some of you can say, ‘Daddy, what are you saying, are you still running?’ I run fast.
“‘With all your anointing?’ Does anointing turn your body to stone? Samson was anointed. Single-handedly, he killed a thousand soldiers. A woman finished him. I hope the boys are listening.
“You can say, ‘Is anybody still interested in an 82-year-old man?’ She is not interested in you but interested in putting an end to all the great works God has done through you.
“You see that woman smiling at you everywhere you go, she is there smiling, and she is not your wife, run.”
Adeboye also counselled youths to be careful of lust, urging them to run away from anything that looks like sin.
He added, “And you girls, when you see a boy smiling at you saying, ‘Where have you been all my life? It looks as if the sun has just come out.’
“He is calling you sunshine. By the time he finishes with you, you won’t even know the difference between sunshine and sunset. You may laugh but mark my words.
“I do warn my children, particularly the boys. I said if the devil comes against you, tell the devil to get lost, but when you see a girl smiling at you in a funny way, run because you can’t win the battle.
“Didn’t you read a report that a man committed an offence about 42 years ago, and now his ministry is finished? Anybody who tells you that whatever you do is hidden, it’s hidden until the wind begins to blow.
“The Bible says, flee youthful lust. It did not ask you to say grace would be sufficient. There is no grace for what God says you should run from. Maybe grace to run.”
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has recalled some tough moments in his life.
As he turns 82, he believes he is alive because God is wonderful, recalling how he once escaped death by the whiskers.
He spoke at the Redemption Camp, off Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun, on Saturday as he clocked 82, with congregants celebrating him.
Adeboye narrated the incident, which many years ago, according to him, could have claimed his life, if not for a miraculous intervention of God.
He referred to an earlier narrative by his former driver of several accidents in which the cleric and his wife escaped death in various incidents on the way to Ilorin, Kwara.
Adeboye said that the most frightening was one in which their vehicle came face to face with a trailer that was coming at full speed on a narrow path, by a bridge which had a river by its side.
“Somehow we passed,” he said, noting that it was a miracle that they escaped unhurt in the incident, which left both him and his driver shaking.
Adeboye said the escape amazed his driver, that all the way to Ilorin, all he was repeating was ‘wonderful.’
“That I’m alive today is because His name is called wonderful,” he said, and prayed that God would be wonderful in the lives of the people.
Adeboye appreciated the church members for celebrating him, praying that none of them would die young, and that they would be greater than him.
He said that his 82nd birthday anniversary also marked the 38th anniversary of the annual Special Holy Ghost Service organised by the church.
Adeboye thanked God for the lives that had been touched through the programme.
The cleric, at the event, went on to preach on the theme of the Holy Ghost Service – On Eagles Wings.
Preaching from Exodus Chapter 19, he said, “When God hears and takes notice of a person, the life of such a person changes for better.
“God can grab you from the lowest point on earth and put you on the throne.”
According to him, when one’s case is beyond any human assistance, the God who knows will send help.
The cleric said that all God required was faith and holiness, and He was able to give sweatless victory.
He prayed that God would hear the cries of the people, carry them on eagle’s wings and deliver them totally like He did for the children of Israel.
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has prophesied on major issues like the economic hardship in Nigeria and major diseases that include cancer.
While recent policy change has compounded socio-economic crises in the country, cancer continues to wreak havovs globally, with former Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, being the latest public figures to have fallen casualty.
But Adeboye assured Nigerians that things will get better in 2024.
The cleric, while giving his prophesies for 2024 during the crossover night service on Sunday at the Redemption Citiy along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, however, said before getting better, things would first get worse.
‘The Punch’ quotes him as saying: “For Nigeria, the wind is already blowing. The wind is blowing.
“Everything God is saying is centred around that little sentence. The wind is blowing, include in your prayers that the wind will blow you well.
“Things will get worse before they get better. Things will get a little hotter before they get better.”
While urging Nigerians to be hopeful and get ready to grab the many opportunities that would come their way this year, he said, “because the wind is blowing means things will get better
“Some people will start as nobody but will become significant before the middle of the year.”
Speaking further, the general overseer said there would be divine interventions in parts of the world where things are hot at the moment.
He also prophesied that there would be breakthroughs at the global level in the treatment of diseases like cancer, diabetes hypertension and others.
“On the international level, there will be breakthroughs for incurable diseases like cancer, diabetes and others. There will be divine intervention in the parts of the world where things are hot.,” he prophesied.
Over the years, it has become a tradition for Nigerian pastors to engage in the annual ritual of releasing prophecies for the new year.
Some of Adeboye’s prophesies in 2023, include the world experiencing relatively more peaceful, 2023 being a year of many opportunities.
He also prophesied that many troublemakers would lose the ability to make trouble during the year, this, he tagged his favourite.
The Provincial Pastor, Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG-FCT 17), Mr Moses Adeyanju has urged Christian leaders to unite for the advancement of the gospel irrespective of denominations.
Adeyabju who made the call at the first anniversary celebration of the province on Sunday in Abuja, said that there are no denominations in heaven.
He said that there was no need for the church to stagnate because of differences between the various denominations.
“I call on the pastors within and outside the RCCG mission to unite towards promoting the gospel of Jesus Christ.
“There is no denomination in heaven, it is here on earth that we have denominations, let us pray and work together for the glory of God.
“I have never been part of the cycle of founding pastors but I’m very happy to gather all founding pastors, veterans to mark one year provincial anniversary,” he said.
Also, a former pastor of the province, Rev. Matthew Morakinyo advised Christians to keep faith in God for better future in spite of current challenges in the country.
He commended the determination of the faithful towards the growth of the church, urging them not to relent in thanking God and making their request known to Him.
“God is more than able to do beyond our expectations, therefore, do not look down on yourselves,” he said.
Awards were presented to pastors and some members who served the church since its establishment in 2006.
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has sworn by his life that he has no deal with demonic powers.
A man who attends a white-garment church had recently claimed that Adeboye bamboozles his followers with demonic powers.
But in reaction to this on Friday, during the church’s programme at the Redemption Camp, Mowe, Adeboye told the congregation:
reacted to claims that he consults wit, “I want you to say this prayer, ‘If Pastor Adeboye has any links with any demonic powers, let him die before the sun rises.
“But if he is using your power, multiply the powers by seven folds.” he added.
An Ikeja Special Offences Court on Wednesday sentenced Ayodeji Oluokun, an assistant pastor of the Redeem Christian Church of God (RCCG), City of David Parish, Victoria Island, Lagos, to two years imprisonment for issuing 1.6 million dollar dud cheque.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Oluokun was charged alongside his company, Peak Petroleum Industry Nigeria Ltd., on an amended six-count charge bordering on issuance of dud cheque, stealing and obtaining money under false pretences.
Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo, in her judgment, held that the prosecution had successfully proved the charge of issuance of dud cheque against the defendants.
Taiwo, however, discharged and acquitted the defendants of stealing and obtaining money under false pretences.
“The defendant issued two cheque in the sum of 1.6 million dollars to the nominal complainant, which was dishonoured because there was no fund in the defendant’s account.
“Issuance of cheque for lack of credit is a strict liable offence.
“If the defendant was truly expecting some money till the end of July 2014 as claimed by him, he would have waited till he received the money before issuing the cheque on June 24, 2014,” said Taiwo.
The judge said the first defendant knew all of these and still went ahead to issue the cheque dated June 24, 2014.
“It is hereby in the view of this court that the defendant was deliberate in issuing the dud cheque.
“He is hereby found guilty of counts one and two of issuance of dud cheque.
“The defendants, however, are discharged and acquitted of stealing and obtaining money under false pretences as the prosecution failed to establish the facts against them,” she said.
The judge thereafter sentenced the first defendant to two years in prison or payment of a fine of N2 million, and the second defendant to a fine of N2 million.
She ordered the convict to make restitution of 1.6 million dollars to the nominal complainant within 18 months.
The defence counsel, Mr Edoka Onyeke, in his allocutus, prayed the court to grant the convict a non custodial sentence, adding that he was a pastor and could use his pastoral work as service to humanity, through community service.
“My lord, apart from the defendant being a first offender, if he is incacerated, he will not be able to carry out the necessary things on behalf of the second defendant so as to make the restitution easy.
“The first defendant is a pastor of a church. This is a very good opportunity for him to engage in community service instead of custodian sentence so as to preach the word of God.
“On a final note, the defendant has promised to involve the nominal complainant in order to make the restitution,” Onyeke said.
Counsel to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Samuel Daji, however, urged the court to convict the defendants as charged.
He argued that the convict and the nominal complainant had not been on talking terms, thereby making the terms of restitution difficult to meet.
He also prayed the court to order the defendant to forfiet his property in order to pay up the debt.
“My lord, from the evidence before this court, the defendant is not committed. It has been nine good years my lord.
“A dollar was N150 at the time the loan was granted to the defendant. The defendant does not even greet the nominal complainant unless it is of utmost necessity.
“There is an evidence that the defendants never want to settle this case.
“The defence counsel said he is a pastor. My lord, the more reason he should be given a custodial sentence in order to server as deterrent to others.
“The court has stated mandatory sentence. We shall be asking for restitution. I shall be urging the court to order the defendant to forfeit his property so as to use it to pay his debt,” Daji said.
The EFCC counsel had submitted that the defendant issued a Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria Ltd. cheque of 1.6 million dollars payable to GOSL Nigeria Ltd.
He said when presented for payment, the cheque was dishonoured on the ground that there were no sufficient funds standing to the credit of the account on which the cheque was drawn.
The offences contravened Sections 1(1) (b) of the Dishonoured Cheques (Offences) Act, Cap D 11 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, and Section 285 (1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State and section 1(3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and other Fraud Related Offences.
The male gender appears to be asserting itself at the ongoing Convention of the Redeemed Christian Church of God as the number of the new male babies delivered almost doubles that of girls.
Within five days, the programme has welcomed 67 children, with 42 of them being male.
Speaking during the Day 5 of the 70th annual Convention of the Church, the General Overseer, Pastor EA Adeboye, said:
“Good news, today, God has added 15 more children to us. So, the total number stands at 67 babies, 42 boys and 26 girls and we had another set of twins today. Let the sisters shout praise the Lord and let the brothers shout Hallelujah.
“I love Children because my Father in Heaven loves children, if I had my way, I would have had 12 of my own but what I couldn’t have biologically, I can now have and I have some very good news for those who are waiting for the Lord for the fruit of the womb, my Daddy was talking to me in my prayer room overnight. Son, what do you want for this jubilee celebration?
“I said, Daddy, I want children. It is the 70th anniversary, 70,000 children will be okay. Then He said, but you’re also celebrating 40 years of being in this camp. Daddy said add 40 to 70. He said I will release 110,000 jubilee children into those wombs that are considered barren and you will see them at the next convention.”
Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has told Nigerian Christians not to buy guns despite the security issues plaguing Christendom and the country in general.
According to him, Christians don’t need guns to get secured.
“I never asked Christians to go and buy guns. Samson in the Bible did not fight with guns,’’ the renowned cleric said on Sunday at the monthly thanksgiving live television programme of the church.
The clarification came against media reports that the general overseer said it was now “fire-for-fire’’ for any attack on Christians.
“Don’t buy guns. You don’t want to kill anybody. We just must make sure that unwanted visitors don’t come to our churches, so don’t go and buy guns,’’ he said.
At the July Holy Ghost Service, on July 2, Pastor Adeboye had urged members of the church not to be afraid to attend church programmes because of terrorists attack on a church in Owo, Ondo State.
Terrorists attacked Saint Francis Catholic Church, Owo, on June 5, killed more than 40 worshippers and injured many others.
Adeboye urged Christians to rise to the occasion and call the bluff of the devil.
