Oludare Adeboye, one of the sons of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has passed on.

Oludare, who was also a cleric, was said to have died in his sleep in his Eket, Akwa Ibom home, on Wednesday night.

He would have been 43 in June.

Although the family have not given details of the incident, the Head of Media and Public Relations, RCCG, Pastor Olaitan Olubiyi, has confirmed the tragedy.

He said on Thursday morning, “It is true. The incident happened in Eket where he was based. I don’t have the details for now. Maybe before the end of today, we will issue a statement.”

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Akure, Ondo State, has reacted to the issue of a pastor caught while attempting to sleep with a married woman whose husband is also a member of the church.

The suspect, Gideon Baker, was, a few days ago, seen in a video that went viral, naked, as he was set to perpetuate the act.

According to the RCCG, Bakare’s action portrayed the church in a bad light.

The church, in a statement released by its spokesperson, Olaitan Olubiyi, said:

“The Redeemed Christian Church of God has excommunicated Mr Gideon Bakare and relieved him of all ministerial duties in the Mission.

“Bakare, who was an Assistant Pastor in the Church was recently accused of attempted act of adultery with a woman in her matrimonial home in Akure, Ondo State.

“The Church dissociated itself from such immoral act of Mr Bakare and described it as being completely contrary to the core values, doctrines, beliefs and practices of the RCCG and the undiluted word of God.

“The Church, after reviewing the report of her investigation, noted that by his conduct, Bakare has not only tainted his personal reputation but has portrayed the Church in a bad light.

”Mr Bakare has therefore been directed to return all official items in his custody and stay off all associated connections with the Mission with immediate effect.”
