The Federal Government has approved the reconstitution of the Governing Council of the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB).

The development was disclosed in a statement by Mr Ben Goong, the Director, Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Education in Abuja on Thursday.

Goong said that the appointments were to provide leadership and guidance to the examination body, reposition entrepreneurship, business and technical subjects in the educational system in response to industry needs.

The council has Prof. Bem Angwe as Chairman and Mr Abbas Hassan, Mr Abdu Ajileye, Mr Umar Mustaphaa and Prof. James Okoro as members.

The director said that the board had been mandated to aggressively pursue the relevance and acceptance of its examinations, improve its revenue generation and sustain the culture of probity and good corporate governance.

He said that President Muhammadu Buhari had also approved the constitution of the governing board for the National Senior Secondary Education Commission, (NSSEC).

He said the NSSEC board has Dr Nimota Akanbi as Chairman and Mr Ibrahim Mohammed, Dr Kabir Kabo, Dr Habiba Suleman, Mrs Joan Ogu, Mr Asubiojo Olaoluwa, Mr Adizuie Eluoka, Mrs Rabi Eshak and Mr Fela Bank-Olemoh Eniola as members.

He said that the mandate of the board was to set standards that would ensure effective teaching and learning at the senior secondary school level of our 6-3-3-4 education system.

He said that the board was also to place the commission on a sound footing by facilitating supervision and guidance.

He said that the board had tenure of four years with effect from the date of its inauguration.

Kano State Government has ordered the immediate reopening of six Technical Colleges in the state to enable their students in the exit class to participate in the forthcoming National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) examinations.

The Commissioner for Education, Malam Sanusi Kiru, gave the order in a statement issued on Sunday in Kano by the Ministry’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Aliyu Yusuf.

Kiru noted that the directive was sequel to the approval granted to a Memo he recently submitted to Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje.

The commissioner said that the state government had ordered the immediate payment of the NABTEB examinations fees of all the SSS3 students in the technical schools.

He stated that the sum of N15.6 million had been earmarked for students’ feeding, while another N860,000 had been set aside for the upkeep of the respective colleges.

According to him, such steps are to facilitate the smooth reopening of the schools.

Kiru indicated that the government had provided all the required Personnel Protective Equipment(PPE’s) to all the students to ensure strict adherence to the COVID-19 protocols.

He directed the Executive Secretary of the Board to call on the directors and principals of the six affected colleges to reciprocate the gesture by doing what was expected of them.

The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) says it will conduct its NBC/NTC examinations from Sept. 21 to Oct. 15.

Prof. Ifeoma Isiugo-Abanihe,
Registrar/Chief Executive of NABTEB, made this known in a statement in Abuja on Sunday.

Isiugo-Abanihe added that the National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) for JSS 3 Students’ admission to Technical Colleges had been brought forward from Oct. 3, to Sept. 5.

“While commending the Federal Ministry of Education and all state Ministries of Education and their stakeholders, for excellent planning and a smooth resumption of school and examinations for the exit classes, I wish to, on behalf of my Board – NABTEB – provide the following updates on our examinations.

“A reminder that the NABTEB NBC/NTC examinations will soon commence on the Sept. 21, and end on the Oct. 15, as already announced by the Federal Ministry of Education.

“The National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) for JSS 3 Students’ admission to Technical Colleges has been brought forward from Oct. 3 to
Sept. 5.

“This is in consideration of the convenience of JSS candidates seeking admission to Technical Colleges who will be concluding their BECE examinations on Friday Sept. 4,” She said.

She further said that with the new date, there would not be any need for students to go back to school on Oct. 3 for another examination.

She added that the deadline for registration of candidates for the NBC/NTC examinations had been extended to Sept. 4, to accommodate requests from various states that had not been able to complete registration of their students due to exigencies arising from Covid-19 Lockdown.

The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has announced the indefinite postponement of the Board’s 2020 May/June Ordinary Level Certificate Examinations.

Prof. Ifeoma Isiugo-Abanihe, Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of NABTEB, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Benin.

“The 2020 May/June series of the NABTEB Certificate Examinations, which are for in-school candidates, originally scheduled to begin on Monday, May, 4 2020, have now been postponed on account of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic ravaging the whole world.

“A new date will be announced in due course.

“Meanwhile, registration for the examinations continues.

“NABTEB enjoins candidates to continue to positively and productively engage in their studies through e-learning resources made available through radio,television and other safe means while they await further information from the Board,” she said.
