Mr. Joe Okojie has been declared the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the Edo Central Senatorial District in the upcoming National Assembly by-election scheduled for August 16, 2025.

The announcement was made in a statement released on Monday in Benin by Mr. Chris Nehikhare, the Publicity Secretary of the Edo PDP caretaker committee.

According to Nehikhare, Okojie emerged winner of the PDP primary election held in Ubiaja, Esan South East Local Government Area of the state.

He said that others who contested for the ticket on the platform of the PDP include Mr John Yakubu and Friday Itulah.

He added that in a related development, Mr Johnny Aikpitanyin emerged the party’s candidate for Ovia Federal Constituency.

Aikpitanyin, who was the only aspirant for the federal constituency seat, was elected at the primary election conducted in Iguobazuwa.
