A 27-year-old man, Damilare Eboade, was on Friday arraigned before a magistrates’ court in Kubwa, Abuja, for allegedly stealing three motorcycles and two mobile phones.

According to the prosecuting counsel, John Okpa, Eboade is accused of stealing an unregistered Max-S motorcycle worth ₦1.3 million and an Infinix phone valued at ₦180,000 from one Mr. John Eru on March 21.

Further investigations, Okpa said, revealed that the defendant had also stolen a motorcycle valued at ₦300,000 from Mr. Felix Ebenezer, as well as a Qlink motorcycle worth ₦1.4 million and a Tecno phone worth ₦150,000 from Mr. Godwin Samaila.

The court proceedings are ongoing.

The prosecuting counsel said that the defendant sold Ebenezer’s motorcycle to one Salisu Ahmed.

The offences, according to him, contravene Section 287 of the Penal Code.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.

The Magistrate, Nneaka Lesley, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N1 million, with one surety resident within the court’s jurisdiction.

Lesley, who said that the surety must be a civil servant from Grade Level 10, adjourned the matter till June 18 for hearing.
