Vice-President Kashim Shettima has called on state governments to translate the optimism of the streets into real prosperity in homes and communities.

Shettima made the call during the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting attended by President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The vice-president, who is the Chairman of NEC, reminded state Governors that the measure of governance lies in the tangible improvement of citizens’ lives rather than rhetoric.

“The measure of government is not in speeches delivered; it is in the lives improved,” the vice-president said.

Shettima reiterated President Bola Tinubu administration’s shift from reactive crisis management to proactive planning.

He commended the Katsina Sustainable Platform for Agriculture (KASPA), a state-driven digital agriculture model designed to modernise service delivery and improve farmers’ access to data, markets, and climate information.

“Earlier this week, at the invitation of His Excellency, Gov. Dikko Radda of Katsina, I was in the state.

“One of the progressive projects we launched is the Katsina Sustainable Platform for Agriculture, known as KASPA.

“It is a scalable framework for digital governance, farmer inclusion, and climate-smart productivity ready for sub-national adoption,” the vice-president said.

The platform, he said, reflected the council’s broader commitment to technology-enabled governance and inclusive agricultural growth that cuts across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

“The story of Nigeria’s recovery will not be written by chance but by choice—by the deliberate actions we take to protect our economy, safeguard our environment, and uphold the welfare of our citizens,” he said.

Shettima commended governors, ministers, and the members of the council for sustaining NEC as a platform of trust, cooperation, and policy innovation.

He is driven to MAITAMA, The Presidential Guest House where he now stays with his family and consults with people.

He receives the daily Presidential briefing the same way a sitting President does, but he can’t make any decisions on any like the incumbent President.

He can strongly advise the President.

His daily expenses is taken over by the Country and they take over his FULL LIFE RESPONSIBILITY.

Same goes for his Vice President Elect. But the VP ELECT doesn’t receive the daily briefings.

The Muslim-Muslim ticket of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima has received a boost from northern Christians.

The faithful under the umbrella of the Progressive Christian Clerics, North-West Zone, say Tinubu is known to be a friend of Christians, adding that he has been married to a Christian for 40 years.

In a statement signed by the North-West Zonal Chairman, Reverend Moses Bitrus of Arise and Shine Prophetic Ministry Kaduna, they note:

”we have resolved to pray to God to give us leaders with the wisdom and knowledge to govern Nigeria.”
“Nigeria is collapsing and needs leaders with proven track record of performance that are adequately equipped to fight the threats by insurgency with all seriousness.We need committed leaders with the capacity to deliver on campaign promises without excuses once elected “.

“These among several reasons are why we disagreed with Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and other churches kicking against the issue of Muslim -Muslim Ticket .”

”though Nigeria is a cosmopolitan state with a multi-ethnic and religious diversity, it is high time we begin to speak about leadership on the basis of merit, competence, experience and record of performance in choice of who leads across all tiers of government. “

While stating that Tinubu governed Lagos for 8 years and Shettima governed Borno for same period of years, it said ,” the records of their exemplary leadership in the area of religious tolerance, economic development and other indices of development are in the public domain.

“We therefore resolve to stand by our faith that preach love for our neighbours and peaceful coexistence without any fear of intimidation to urge Nigerians to vote on basis of record of performance and not religion.”

“Tinubu has been married to a Christian wife for over 40 years and known for his good relationship with Christians across Nigeria . Shettima was singled out as a very receptive Governor ,who gave priority to growth and development of Christian communities in Borno during his days as Governor, so why the outcry ? Religion should not be the basis for electing a President and his running mate,” they said.
