Policemen in Enugu are fertile – CP says as wife of another officer gives birth to triplets. Command solicits support

Police in Enugu State on Monday sought the support of public-spirited individuals, groups, and organisations for the family of a police corporal whose wife was delivered of a set of triplets on March 21.

Helen, wife of Cpl. Kingsley Nnamani serving in Nsukka Urban Division of the Nigeria Police Force, was successfully delivered of the three bouncing baby boys.

The new arrivals brought the number of the couple’s children to four as they had a two-year-old daughter before the new arrivals.

Leading the campaign for support, Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mr Kanayo Uzuegbu, noted that the delivery marked a recurring and amazing phenomenon in the police command in Enugu State.

Wife of a police sergeant similarly delivered a set of triplets in May 2023 at the Police Clinic, in Enugu.

“This leaves no doubt that police officers, men and women in Enugu State are fertile,’’ police spokesman in Enugu State, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, quoted Uzuegbu as having said.

The police commissioner described the great gifts as good omen for the police and for Enugu State in general and enjoined people of goodwill to support the corporal and his family.

Police recover 4 lifeless bodies of suspected fleeing sit-at-home enforcers in Enugu

The Police Command in Enugu State, says it has recovered four lifeless bodies of suspected fleeing sit-at-home enforcers who were overpowered and hit by bullets.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Command’s Spokesman, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, on Saturday in Enugu.

Ndukwe said that a combined team of tactical police operatives discovered and recovered the lifeless bodies of four of the male hoodlums, in a forest behind G. Ede Filling Station/7-Up, at Awkunanaw, Enugu, where they escaped into.

He said the development was sequel to the earlier report of operatives dislodging armed subversive criminal elements, who attempted to enforce the illegal sit-at-home order, in the early hours of July 7.

He said: “Recall that the Operatives intercepted the criminals at One-Day, Awkunanaw, Enugu, as they were snatching an ENTRACO branded Sharon minivan from its driver at gunpoint.

“They engaged the operatives in a gun duel, but escaped with varying degrees of fatal gunshot wounds, due to the superior firepower of the police operatives.

“Hence, a manhunt operation was launched, while a thorough search conducted on the vehicle led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle with magazine loaded with 19 live ammunition of 7.62 calibres, two bottles of petrol bomb and other incriminating exhibits.”

Ndukwe said that the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Ahmed Ammani, had reassured that police and other security agencies would not relent in their efforts to maintain maximum security for the law-abiding citizens, as they go about their lawful businesses.

“The commissioner, however, solicits residents’ continued support,” he added.

Police in Enugu State have eventually reunited the presumably 20-year-old lady reportedly lost-but-found and who could not give her name correctly with her mother.

She was reunited with her mother on Tuesday hours after the police made the announcement seeking her family members.

Police spokesman, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Wednesday that the reunion was emotionally-charged.

He said the highly-excited and appreciative mother, a widow, gave the correct name of the lost-but-found lady as Comfort and put her age at 23 years.

Comfort had earlier given three different names as her name and her age as 20 years during police profiling.

“The mother said Comfort left a prayer house in Inyi community in Oji River Local Government Area of the state where she had been since Dec. 31, 2022, following her state of mental imbalance.

“She said efforts to locate her proved abortive, until she was notified about a police statement about a lost-but-found lady in different media platforms.

“She added that Comfort, who was a student of Abia State University Uturu, started suffering from mental imbalance in 2020 after she returned from a wedding ceremony in Abuja,’’ Ndukwe said.

The police spokesman said the Command appreciates everyone who contributed in making the finding and reunion of Comfort with her mother possible.

“The police applaud the Good Samaritan that found and took Comfort to the police station at Ozalla Division on Jan. 20 after she was found wandering at Obe community in Nkanu West Local Government Area.

“We also appreciate pressmen and public-spirited individuals who used their various media platforms to widely circulate news about the lost-but-found lady.

“The police urge all and sundry not to relent in being compassionate, caring and showing undiluted love of this manner, which made the speedy reunion of Comfort with her mother possible,’’ he said.

Police speak on Enugu shooting

The Police Command in Enugu State says no life was lost in the early morning shooting that occurred around New Market area within Enugu metropolis on Monday.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Daniel Ndukwe, who confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), said that the incident took place at Odegba Street on Iva Valley Road in Enugu.

Ndukwe said that the two victims involved in the yet-to-be identified gunmen attack on a commercial bus were responding to treatment in an unnamed hospital.

“The victims are responding to treatment at the hospital where they were promptly taken to by police operatives that swiftly responded to a distress call on the incident.

“Investigation has been launched to fish out the fleeing miscreants,” the police spokesman said.

It was gathered that the yet-to-be identified armed gunmen, who attacked the passengers alleged to be traders in a commercial bus, are believed to be implementing the Monday sit-at-home order issued by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The passengers were said to have left their homes early to attend to their businesses when the bullets started raining on the commercial bus conveying them.

Man kills his 3 children in Enugu, keeps their bodies inside fridge

The Police Command in Enugu State has arrested one Ifeanyi Amadikwa, 52, in Enugu metropolis for alleged murder, and dumping in a fridge, of his three female tender children.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Daniel Ndukwe, said in a statement on Wednesday that the suspect, Amadikwa, who lives in 74 Nkwubor Road, Emene near Enugu, was arrested on Jan. 4 at about 7:30 p.m.

Ndukwe said that the suspect was arrested by police operatives attached to Enugu Metro Police Area Command.

According to the police spokesman, his three female tender children he murdered are: Chidalum Amadikwa,11 (who is his step-daughter), Amarachi Amadikwa, 8, and Ebubechukwu Amadikwa, 4.

“Preliminary investigation showed that the suspect’s wife and mother of the children, went to the market with her only male child on Jan. 4, leaving the others in the suspect’s custody.

“She, however, came back in the evening hours of the said date and could not find any of the three children.

“But while searching for them, the suspect drew her attention to the said fridge he had brought back home from his shop on Jan. 2 and kept in their apartment’s veranda.

“And on a closer observation, the lifeless bodies of the children were found in the fridge with bruises, suggesting that they might have been murdered and dumped in the fridge,” he said.

Ndukwe said that the bodies of the deceased children were immediately moved to the hospital, where they were confirmed dead by medical doctors on duty and deposited in the mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

He said that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Lawal Abubakar, had commiserated with the mother, relatives and friends of the deceased children.

The police spokesman said that the commissioner had assured commitment to thoroughly investigate the case and ensure that justice prevails.

“In view of this, the commissioner has ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department to conduct a conclusive investigation into the case and ensure everyone found culpable is brought to book,” he added.
