– Inter Milan midfielder Federico Dimarco’s first-half goal earned his side a place in the Coppa Italia final for the second year in a row after a 1-0 home win over Juventus in their semi-final second leg on Wednesday secured a 2-1 aggregate victory.

– Defending champions Inter started on the front foot, racing into the lead after 15 minutes when midfielder Nicolo Barella played the ball through to Dimarco inside the box and he found the net with one touch.

– Soon after the second half began, Edin Dzeko appeared to have doubled the hosts’ lead with a nice finish from a tight angle, but he was flagged offside.

– Juve keeper Mattia Perin then pulled off a superb one-handed save to tip Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s attempt wide in the 73rd minute.

– Inter will face either Fiorentina or Cremonese in the final on May 24 at the Stadio Olimpico, with Fiorentina leading 2-0 after their semi-final first leg in Cremona.

– Romelu Lukaku scored a 95th-minute penalty and was then sent off in Inter Milan’s dramatic Coppa Italia draw against Juventus in Turin.

– Juan Cuadrado’s strike put Juventus ahead in the 83rd minute before Gleison Bremer’s handball presented Inter with an added-time spot-kick.

– Lukaku was sent off for his celebrations in front of the home fans.

– Inter captain Samir Handanovic and Cuadrado were also shown red cards after the final whistle.

– Following Lukaku’s penalty and the second yellow card that followed it, scuffles broke out between players from both sides and continued down the tunnel.

– Defending Coppa Italia champions Inter are without a win in five matches and their poor form has heaped pressure on manager Simone Inzaghi.

– Cremonese host Fiorentina in the second semi-final on Wednesday, with the second legs of both ties set to be played on 26 and 27 April.

– Defending champions Inter Milan reached the semifinals of the Coppa Italia on Tuesday with a 1-0 win over Atalanta thanks to a second-half goal from Matteo Darmian.

– Simone Inzaghi’s side will now face the winners of Thursday’s match between Juventus and Lazio for a place in the final.

– Inter were the better team in the first half but could not find the net, with Hakan Calhanoglu coming closest with a shot at the post four minutes before stoppage time.

– Atalanta tried to get an equaliser but the Inter defence contained them until the end of the match.

– A second-half strike by forward Paulo Dybala secured AS Roma a 1-0 win over Genoa in the Coppa Italia round of 16 on Thursday and kept the capital club on course to win the competition for the 10th time.

– Substitute Dybala put Roma ahead in the 64th minute, the Argentina international sending a powerful shot from a tight angle inside the far post after replacing midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini at halftime.

– Earlier on Thursday, Fiorentina advanced to the quarterfinals with a 1-0 win over Sampdoria.

– Milan crashed out of the Coppa Italia in embarrassing fashion, as 10-man Torino grabbed an extra time victory at San Siro on the counter-attack.

– The Granata will face either Fiorentina or Sampdoria in the quarter-finals.

– The Rossoneri were in the middle of an injury crisis, missing Mike Maignan, Divock Origi, Fode Ballo-Toure, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Rade Krunic, Alessandro Florenzi, Simon Kjaer and Ante Rebic. With Rafael Leao and Theo Hernandez rested, Stefano Pioli tested a 3-5-1-1 formation with Brahim Diaz supporting False 9 Charles De Ketelaere. Toro were without Pietro Pellegri, Ola Aina and Valentin Lazaro.

– Ciprian Tatarusanu gave the ball away with a poor clearance intercepted by Tonny Sanabria, but made up for it with a great save on Sasa Lukic using his legs.

– Milan fought back, as Sergino Dest saw his strike deflected off Ricci so Vanja Milinkovic-Savic had to fingertip it at full stretch over the bar. On the resulting corner, De Ketelaere’s flicked header bounced off the inside of the far post with the goalkeeper beaten.

– Alexis Saelemaekers had a shot charged down and in stoppages Milinkovic-Savic just about got his gloves to a ferocious De Ketelaere strike.

– After the restart, a dangerous Lukic cross was just beyond Sanabria and Milinkovic-Savic parried the Tommaso Pobega attempt.

– Junior Messias almost scored with his first touch, trapping a Tonali ball over the top and failing to find the net from a tight angle.

– Moments later, the Brazilian was hacked down by Koffi Djidji on the counter-attack and it was the Torino defender’s second yellow card.

– Desperate to avoid extra time in a packed fixture list, Stefano Pioli threw on all the big guns available to break down 10-man Toro and returned to the usual formation.

– Sergino Dest cut inside and drilled inches wide through Megim Vojvoda’s legs, while Milinkovic-Savic pushed a dangerous cross off the head of Olivier Giroud.

– The goalkeeper also got down to fingertip a Theo Hernandez chest and volley round the near post, which is also where De Ketelaere’s back-heel flick went on the resulting corner.

– It did go to extra time, just as it did last time these sides met in the Coppa Italia, as Rafael Leao stung Milinkovic-Savic’s gloves from distance, so did Dest and only a desperate clearance prevented Olivier Giroud scoring on the rebound.

– Lukic blasted over from a promising position, while Demba Seck’s pull-back for Karol Linetty was intercepted at the last moment.

– Milinkovic-Savic rushed off his line to deny Giroud from point-blank range on a Leao cross flicked on by Tonali, while Leao fired over from the edge of the area.

– Just as Milan were pouring forward, they were caught on the counter-attack. Lukic’s inspired ball sent Bayeye sprinting down the right and he rolled it across the face of goal for fellow substitute Michel Adopo to apply the finish, getting in front of the home defenders.

– The Rossoneri put on a siege for the final minutes, a series of shots charged down and Milinkovic-Savic fumbling a Davide Calabria volley so it squirmed out of his grasp and landed on the roof of the net.

– It is the second time this season that Torino have beaten Milan, after a 2-1 Serie A result in October 2022.

– Gigi Buffon’s Parma pushed Inter to the limit at San Siro in the Coppa Italia Round of 16, leading until the 88th minute when Lautaro Martinez equalised and Francesco Acerbi’s cheeky header won it in extra time.

– They will now go on to face either Atalanta or Spezia in the quarter-finals.

– The holders began the defence of their title by hosting Serie B outfit Parma, including Buffon just 18 days before his 45th birthday, here making his 50th career appearance at San Siro. Romelu Lukaku, Marcelo Brozovic, Hakan Calhanoglu and Nicolò Barella were out injured, as Simone Inzaghi rotated the squad.

– Danilo D’Ambrosio made a howler playing out from the back in the opening minutes and was fortunate Franco Vazquez didn’t take full advantage with a shot saved by Andre Onana.

– Roberto Gagliardini skimmed the base of the near post on a smart Robin Gosens assist and Dennis Man went off with an early injury.

– However, his replacement opened the scoring, as Stanko Juric hit a scorcher into the top corner from outside the D, which took Onana by surprise.

– It was nearly 2-0 on the stroke of half-time, as Adrian Benedyczak hit a ferocious volley from the edge of the area that Onana flew to palm away.

– Denzel Dumfries pulled back from the right for Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who slipped at the crucial moment from just inside the box, while Adrian Bernabè wasted a counter-attack with an over-hit pass for Sohm, allowing Raoul Bellanova to sprint across and cut him off.

– Buffon got his gloves to a glancing Edin Dzeko header on the corner as it turned into a siege, but still one without shots on target.

– Their first genuine attempt was the equaliser on 88 minutes, as Kristjan Asllani floated a ball over the top for Dzeko, but it was cleared by Botond Balogh only as far as Lautaro Martinez on the edge of the box for a shot that went into the top corner with a deflection off Yordan Osorio.

– Inter thought they’d won it in stoppages, but Buffon just 18 days shy of his 45th birthday got down so quickly to deny Dzeko.

– It went to extra time and Onana used his stomach to parry Drissa Camara’s strike at the near post and was right behind a Valentin Mihaila rocket.

– Inter almost threw it away when Gagliardini’s terrible sideways pass was intercepted by Antoine Hainaut, whose angled drive skimmed the far post with Onana beaten.

– Federico Dimarco’s volley was off target and Bellanova’s header straight at Buffon from a Dzeko cross, but Inter did turn the game around eventually.

– Dimarco showed great skill to take down a long Asllani ball over the top, his taut cross was beaten away by Buffon, but Francesco Acerbi was very smart to take the header first time from the edge of the box, looping it under the bar, knowing the goalkeeper was off his line.

– Inter Milan won the Coppa Italia after an extra-time double from Croatian forward Ivan Perisic earned his side a 4-2 victory over Juventus in Wednesday’s final, ensuring Massimiliano Allegri’s team will finish the season trophyless.

– Inter, who are still in the running to retain their Serie A title this term, started on the front foot, racing into the lead after six minutes in the Stadio Olimpico as Nicolo Barella arrowed a stunning strike into the top corner.

– Juventus responded well with Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic denied by a superb save from Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic in a pulsating first half, before defender Alex Sandro levelled five minutes after the break.

– Vlahovic then completed the turnaround less than two minutes later to spark wild scenes of celebration among Juve’s players, but Hakan Calhanoglu’s expertly-converted penalty took the match to extra time.

– Perisic then took centre stage, firing his side in front once more with another penalty, again emphatically converted, before making sure of a first Coppa Italia triumph since 2011 for Inter with a powerful finish into the top corner.

– Allegri, who was sent to the stands for protesting against a decision late on, will become the first Juventus manager since 2011 to finish a season without having won a single trophy, with Juve fourth in Serie A and out of title contention.

– Juventus will face Inter in the Coppa Italia Final in Rome on May 11, as Federico Bernardeschi and Danilo secured another victory over Fiorentina.

– The Bianconeri won the first leg with a last-gasp Lorenzo Venuti own goal, so with the away goals rule, the Viola would go to extra time with a 1-0 victory here or qualify to face Inter in the Final with any other win.

– With that in mind, Vincenzo Italiano used an all-attack side including Jonathan Ikone in midfield. Giacomo Bonaventura and Alvaro Odriozola were carrying knocks, Nikola Milenkovic had a stomach bug and Gaetano Castrovilli out for the season.

– Juve missed Manuel Locatelli, Arthur Melo, Weston McKennie, Kaio Jorge and Federico Chiesa, but Dusan Vlahovic faced his former teammates.

– Fiorentina almost scored in the opening minutes, Mattia Perin fumbling a corner and Arthur Cabral in an offside position accidentally charging down Lucas Torreira’s finish.

– Vlahovic pounced on an Igor error for the counter, but hesitated and Alvaro Morata was already offside by the time he released the pass.

– Morata did time it properly soon after, Vlahovic stinging Bartlomiej Dragowski’s gloves with an angled drive, then Lucas Martinez-Quarta intercepted Morata on a Vlahovic back-heel flick.

– Vlahovic sprung the offside trap and tried to dink it over Dragowski, who stood tall to block, but the goalkeeper made a howler for the goal. He flapped aimlessly at Morata’s cross, allowing Federico Bernardeschi to chest and volley into the top corner from 14 yards.

– Perin’s gloves were stung by Arthur Cabral after Mattia De Sciglio was caught napping and the full-back was booked soon after, meaning he’ll be suspended for the Final.

– After the restart, a deflected Martinez-Quarta header from a corner forced a great reaction save out of Perin, yet Denis Zakaria was denied only by the outside of the near post after combining with Vlahovic.

– Cristiano Biraghi’s free kick grazed a coat of paint off the top corner, as Fiorentina continued to dominate possession.

– Adrien Rabiot had the ball in the net on 70 minutes when he controlled a Bernardeschi cross, held off Jose Callejon and swept in from eight yards, but VAR confirmed the offside position.

– Cabral’s header was inches wide after Matthijs de Ligt did enough to put him off, Paulo Dybala was back defending on Jose Callejon and Perin used his legs to parry Riccardo Sottil’s angled drive.

– Instead, Juve finished the job in stoppages when Juan Cuadrado confused Martinez-Quarta with a series of step-overs, pulled back from the by-line and Danilo just had to sweep in from eight yards.

– Internazionale striker Lautaro Martinez grabbed a first-half double to help his side secure a place in the Coppa Italia final with a 3-0 second-leg victory over AC Milan at San Siro on Tuesday.

– The first game was goalless but Inter scored after just four minutes in the return when Martinez, starting ahead of Edin Dzeko, smartly turned in Matteo Darmian’s cross at the near post for his second goal in as many games.

– Milan almost levelled before the half-hour through Rafael Leao but the Portuguese was denied by an excellent reflex save from Samir Handanovic. The Slovenian made another smart stop minutes later to keep out Alexis Saelemaekers.

– The Rossoneri were left to rue those missed chances as Inter doubled their lead five minutes before the interval when Martinez netted again, slotting the ball home after being played in by his Argentine compatriot Joaquin Correa.

– Milan had several half-chances after the break but Ismael Bennacer’s 68th-minute strike was ruled out for an offside before substitute Robin Gosens sealed the win for Inter as they edged towards a first Coppa Italia title in more than a decade.

– Juventus host Fiorentina in their semifinal return leg on Wednesday, with the Turin side 1-0 up in the tie.

– AC Milan failed to take advantage of several chances as they played out a 0-0 draw with neighbours Internazionale in the first leg of their Coppa Italia semifinal at San Siro on Tuesday.

– The Rossoneri began brightly and pinned back the Italian champions almost from the start of the derby, but in the end had nothing to show for it.

– AC Milan had an excellent early chance in the ninth minute as they applied a strong press, allowing Alexis Saelemaekers to steal away possession and fire in a shot that Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic punched away.

– Almost straight after, Theo Hernandez broke through the middle, playing a one-two with fellow France international Olivier Giroud before hitting a low shot that clipped the outside of the post.

– While veteran striker Edin Dzeko looked threatening for Inter whenever he was in possession, there were more clear-cut chances for their city rivals as Rafael Leao was off target with a chance midway through the first half and Rade Krunic had his 38th-minute shot blocked.

– Milan made more opportunities after the restart with Leao’s angled shot forcing a fine one-handed stop from the Inter goalkeeper and Krunic had another close-range chance blocked.

– A triple change by manager Stefano Pioli kept up the pressure, but AC Milan were guilty of over elaborating and making poor decisions when they had the Inter defence stretched.

– Inter host the return leg on April 20 with the winner to meet either Fiorentina or Juventus in the final. Fiorentina host Juventus in the first leg of their semifinal on Wednesday.
