A Lagos-based journalist, Joe Agbro, is currently in high spirits because he has been able to sustain, for 100 days, his decision to abstain from drinking carbonated soft drinks.
Hundred days celebration was hitherto almost the exclusive right of Nigerian politicians, some of whom may go as far as celebrating the successful appointment of their first ladies during the time.
Agbro, a resourceful writer and critic, however, introduced another dimension to this when he announced what he considered to be a feat on Facebook.
He noted, “Celebrate your small victories… So, I abstained from drinking carbonated soft drinks aka ‘Minerals’ in the last 100 days. No Coke, Pepsi, Fanta, Sprite, Teem or any of those fizzy sugary demons. For someone who consumed an average of 150cl of different soft drinks daily, I’m proud of how I avoided them. Though it wasn’t easy, the move has given me renewed drive to tackle something bigger in the next 100 days… But today, I celebrate.”

Several of his friends have started congratulating him while wishing him further strength to sustain the drive.
Some are, however, confessing that efforts they have made did not bear fruits as they cannot just resist the ‘minerals’.
Phenomenal.com.ng will monitor Agbro’s progress in the coming days, months and years.
