“Africa cannot and will not be a testing ground for any vaccine.” This is the position of the World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, concerning the move by some experts to test some new drugs in Africa.
According to him, the shining that Africa should be used as a testing ground for such is tantamount to racism and a product of colonial mentality.
He told a virtual news conference, insisting, “We will follow all the rules to test any vaccine or therapeutics all over the world… whether it is in Europe, Africa or wherever.”
