Cabals halt National Theatre renovation dream

Some people n the Presidency appear to have thrown spanners in the wheel of the plan by the Lagos State Government to renovate the National Theatre.

The Akinwunmi Ambode administration plans to renovate the central upper stage that has been under lock for decades.

This was to coincide with the efforts of the Alhaji Lai Mohammed-led Ministry of Information and Culture which wants to turn the facility around through a public-private initiative.

The ministry wants to develop the vast lands around the theatre.

PhenomenlaLagos learnt that some people described as the cabal in Abuja feels that the proposed Lagos State intervention amounts to taking over the theatre.

As a result, PhenomenalLagos learnt, the group in the Presidency appointed a new General Manager who has been instructed to scuttle the renovation plans.

Details later.
