Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, has made a bold step to explore medical and economic value of cannabis.
The plant/product otherwise called marijuana is widely cultivated in Ondo but it is often associated with illegal trading and consumption.
But the government is working with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to partner Thailand where the plant is purposefully popular. As a result, Akeredolu and Muhammad Abdallah, NDLEA chairman, are in Thailand to learn more about Cannabis extract development.

An elated Akeredolu said in a Twitter post, “We are here to study how cannabis can be of more advantage to the state and Nigeria at large just the way Thai Government has done. Cannabis is used for medical purposes; how can it be cultivated for specific purposes and not be abused?”.
