Many Nigerians are angry with wife of billionaire Bill Gates, Melinda, over her prediction that coronavirus is bound to claim immensely multiple deaths in Africa.

Melinda says if the ‘world’ does not intervene now, bodies are bound to litter the streets on the continent.

She expressed her concern on a CNN interview, but many Nigerians are not taking this lightly.

While some are ‘rejecting it in Jesus’ name’, others are ding the back-to-the-sender signs in their responses.

Some are yet outright flinging curses.

Melinda had said: Gates has warned that there will be dead bodies littering the streets in African countries if the world does not act fast to curb the spread of coronavirus.

“It’s going to be horrible in the developing world.

“Part of the reasons you are seeing the case numbers still do not look very bad, is because they don’t have access to many tests.

“Look at what is happening in Ecuador, they are putting bodies out on the streets, you are going to see that in countries in Africa,” Mrs Gates noted.”

She adds that her worst nightmare is when she “saw what China had to do to isolate enormous part of its population. My first thought was Africa. How in the world are they going to deal with this.”

She explains: “I have been in townships all over Africa and slums. When we talk in country physical distancing and hand-washing, if you live in slums who can’t physical distance, you have to go out and get your meals. You don’t have clean water to wash your hands.”

Many people have feared that Nigeria is not prepared for a real outbreak of the pandemic.

They base their fear on the health system that is largely down and inefficient.

Even the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, saying a ew days ago that he never knew the health infrastructure in the country is so terribly bad.

Doctors have also expressed dissatisfaction at the pace of coronavirus testing.
