The Kano Concerned Citizens Initiative (KCCI) has commended youths in Kano for exhibiting remarkable maturity in accepting the results of the just concluded re-run governorship election in the state.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Chairman of the Group and one time Presidential flag bearer on the platform of the defunct Social Democratic Party (SDP), Alhaji Bashir-Othman Tofa and made available to newsmen on Monday in Kano.
He said adequate windows were provided by laws to redress any type of wrong and that the opportunity should be used properly as there was no reason whatsoever for one to resort to violence as a means of seeking redress.
He said one of the principles contribution towards achieving any vision is to be law abiding with determination and greater responsibility in ensuring peace reigned in the entire state.
This, he said, lies on the shoulders of those who were declared winners of the election.
He, however urged the winners of the election to shun vindictiveness in whatever form and strive to embrace all Kano people as one family as well as treat all persons as equals.
He also urged them to pursue the agenda for development they shared with KCCI during its numerous interactions with respective candidates.
Othman-Tofa said the teeming youths in Kano State have behaved reasonably well and deserved commendation for the singular act.
He described the conflicts in some places leading to unnecessary casualties as unfortunate and most disturbing stressing that security agencies should ensure that all the perpetrators are prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others. (NAN)
