Minister of State for Health, Dr Olorunmbe Mamora, has said that alternative medical practitioners in Nigeria have requested to have wards to operate in Nigerian hospitals.
Mamora said this was the matter that came up during a meeting with them over the challenges of coronavirus last week.
Speaking on the meeting on Wednesday during the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 on Wednesday, he said the request was not strange as it was already being practiced in Ghana and China.
He, however, said the government would consider the matter alongside other issues that arose.
Another of such, he said, was the fear expressed by the practitioners that some people might infringe on their trademarks.
“Practitioners still have issues regarding process of getting registered with NAFDAC. Also, the everyone is scared someone will not go behind them to patent their own product. Funding. Every step of the process will require issue of funding,” he added.
