Second-generation fuji musician, Wasiu Ajani aka Tekoye, is dead.
A statement from his family in Lagos said he died on Thursday in
he passed on at 52, in his Moshalashi, Alimoso home.
The statement said:
“The family of Olaifa has announced the sudden departure of fuji music legend, Alhaji Wasiu Ajani otherwise known as Tekoye.
“Tekoye, 52 died at the early hours of today Thursday, May 14, 2020, at his residence in Moshalashi Area of Alimosho Local Government in Lagos. He will be buried according to Islamic rites at the family house tomorrow at 10 in the morning.”
Tekpye came in the generation of the likes of Abeokuta-based Sefiu Also, Shinna Akanni, the late Sunny T Adesokan, shortly after Was Ayinde and a little before Saheed Osupa and Alabi Pasuma.
Although he did not have any particularly unique style, his voice and style of composition gave him an identity.
