As the World Book Day is marked today, a media executive, Mr Bamidele Johnson, has mocked Nigerians for paying little attention to matters relating to books.
Irked by the fact that most people are not acknowledging the day, he noted that if it were other seasons that celebrated non-intellectual things, many people would be talking about them.
In a Facebook post today, Johnson, a former editor of ‘Tempo’ magazine, particularly compared the World Dook Day to the Valentine’s Day.
He said: “Today will pass with little, if anyone, celebration because it is not St. Valentine’s Day, the hideously fake, commerce-driven, codified, ritual branded lover’s day.”
