The executive publisher and co-founder of Quramo Publishing has made it known that the inauguration of ‘Quramo Festival of Words’ is the beginning of Quramo Publishing’s prestige in the book production industry.
Quramo Festival of Words, also known as QFest, was held at the Eko Hotel and Suites, 13 – 15 Dec.,2019, with various events handled by film makers, publishers, writers, educationists, entertainers, and so on.
It was a 3-day event with published writers, specifically, being interviewed. They shared their writing experience and inspiration.
“There’s a particular hut in my village that children are particularly never meant to visit. This has not only been my major source of influence but also a way to question the sacredness and sanctity of such hut.
“I don’t think I have any best writer. Actually every one in my family is a writer. So there’s this writing gene in my family.
“As a young writer I started by writing 50 words every day. And since then I’ve consciously imbibed the spirit of writing,” said Jesutofunmi Fekoya, the author of ‘Mirror on The Wall’.
Another writer, Samuel Monye, who was the winner of the Quramo Writer’s Prize in 2017, said that although he knew he was going to be published, he never wrote to be published.
He also noted that his novel, ‘Give Us Each Day’, was born out of the Lord’s Prayer and that every chapter is reflective of some portion of the prayer.
“Boom Boom is a prize-winning novel, yet it doesn’t occur to me as such. As someone from a rich family a hundred dollars never meant anything. I mean, if you want it I could give you. Really I was never writing for money. I just write for the fun of it.
“Sickle cell anemia is a very known, but often neglected phenomenon, in Nigerian writings. This is what I’ve captured in my novel from a child’s perspective,” said the author, Jude Idaha.
When Quramo Publishing was incorporated in 2015, ideas and inspirations for discussion and innovation evolved and the Quramo Writer’s Prize was launched in 2017.
In 2010, the first Quramo Conference, itself a 3-day policy forum for multidisciplinary experts from both public and private sector to discuss global challenges,was held.
