The Academic Staff Union of Universities, University of Ibadan chapter, has dissociated itself from some employees of the university who were arrested for examination malpractice last week.
The fraud that happened the varsity’s Distance Learning Centre, led to the arrest of six workers who ASUU, however, said were non-academic staff.
Speaking on the matter on Tuesday, the Chairman, ASUU UI, Prof. Deji Omole, said those arrested by the Department of State Services were non-academic staff in the technical unit of the DLC.
He slammed the Director of Public Communications of the University, who reportedly confirmed the arrest for without establishing those really involved.
Reports said the suspects smuggled in scripts for some students, in the process of which they were nabbed.
The varsity authorities said it was its officials who arrested the men and handed them over to the DSS.
