The Pan-African Arts, Culture and Tourism Institute (PAACATI) has revealed plans to spotlight on issues facing the African creative industry, tourism and investment opportunities for Africans.
Mykel Parish, the Director of the Pan African Development Summit, said that discussion forums to stimulate economic growth in Africa should be encouraged.
PAACATI is a non-governmental institution founded to preserve and protect the assets and attributes, including arts, culture, history, traditions, and tourism of Africa, through its international hub in Canada.
Parish said that the organisation will keenly focus on economic, business and social development to promote African cultures and talents.
He said, “It is about documenting and preserving history through research, public education, exhibitions, training, exchange of ideas through tailor-made programmes, real time experiences of Africa and fostering creative expressions.
“PAACATI fosters sustainable alliances with other like-minded organizations and individuals, in a multi-cultural environment that can bring resources and assets to the table, without sacrificing their own missions or identities.
“We also need to explore partnerships with individuals and corporate entities that strive to solve cultural, social and economic issues and unite the Pan-African community as well as promote diversity and economic development globally,” he said.
The Pan-African Development Summit, held annually in Canada, is a notable part of PAACATI that brings industry experts together to exchange ideas and proffer solutions on major challenges faced by the continent.
Parish maintained that the 2019 edition will focus on technology, gender, the creative sector, peace and conflict, and climate change to develop roadmaps for sustainable solutions.
The forum, featuring leaders, decision and policy makers, entrepreneurs and influencers in business, economy, politics, and the social sector, will take place from Nov. 4 to Nov. 9.
