Kaduna to establish diary farm, to settle herdsmen

More states are settling for different forms of herdsmen settlement as Kaduna State has unveiled plan to establish what it called a diary farm.
In the project in which it is collaborating with experts from Denmark, it is settling some 1,000 herdsmen in the farm where it is providing permanent farmland fro them and basic amenities for them.
Speaking on the matter when the state signed the agreement with the experts, Governor Nasir el-Rufai expressed the conviction that it would solve the problems associated with herding.
“The dDevelopment of grazing reserve will show itinerant herdsmen that is is possible to engage in modern livestock production without going up and down the country,” he said.
Denmark Ambassador to Nigeria, Jesper Kamp, also noted that the idea was not only sustainable, it would also increase productivity.
