There is uneasy respite in the home of a Mexican, Hector, following the death of his son, Ignazio ‘Cito’ Okamotowho, had been in coma since 1988.
That is 31 long years ago.
A news medium, La Stampa, reports that the crash occurred in Italy and Okamotowh’s parents had been taking care of him since, hoping he would one day come back to life.
The man who suffered a brain haemorrhage at the age of 22 had spent two years in a clinic before he was taken home by the parents.
Speaking after his passage, his mother, Marina, said “For 31 years we lived cut off from the world. The doctors had told us that he wouldn’t wake up but we cared for him every day, hoping that maybe…’
The father, who left his job in 1990 to take care of the son, too has a story to tell, saying, “Now life has changed. I woke up this morning at 5am and I didn’t know what to do. I went to the garden to water the flowers. The last few nights I slept in Ignazio’s room, even though he is gone, to be near him.’
