Nigeria recorded another suicide case on Monday as an undergraduate of the Tai Solarin University of Education was said to have hanged himself.
The case of the victim, Ogunbanwo Emmanuel, brings to memory what has been happening in several higher institutions across the country where a disturbing number of students have committed suicide.
Emmanuel reportedly took the action when he could not bear the carryovers he had.
While the varsity authorities have yet to respond to the matter, a friend of the deceased, Benjamin, said in a post (sic): “It’s a pity that we lost a loving friend like you. RIP Ogunbanwo Emmanuel. Even if you have 10 carry over, committing suicide isn’t the solution. You left like a coward, instead of you to stand and fight to the end. I and others are gonna miss you. Love you bro, love you Emmanuel.”
