A woman who guaranteed a loan for a friend in Ibadan has committed suicide over the latter’s failure to repay the loan.
The debtor is said to have gone into hiding.
The deceased, Shakirat Rasheed, was said to have hanged herself when the bank asked her asked her to repay the loan.
The financial institution is identified as LAPO, a micro finance bank.
She was asked to pay the money on installment but she apparently found the burden unbearable.
The police in Oyo State confirmed the incident that happened in the Awotan area.
The suicide case has further compounded the rate at which people kill themselves in the country.
Only on Friday, a soldier was said to have committed suicide in Abuja, citing pressure from his wife.
