The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) have deepened their inter-agency partnership to enhance road safety, facilitate legitimate trade, and bolster security across transport routes in Cross River and Akwa Ibom states.
The Acting Customs Area Controller for the Cross River/Calabar Free Trade Zone/Akwa Ibom Area Command, Deputy Comptroller Nkeiruka Nwala, made this known during a courtesy and familiarization visit to the FRSC Cross River Sector Command on Monday.
Nwala emphasized that road transport remains vital to customs enforcement activities and the efficient movement of commercial goods. She noted that closer cooperation between both agencies will enhance operational efficiency, clear trade bottlenecks, and secure critical transport corridors.
She further stated that the initiative aligns with the strategic framework of the Comptroller-General of Customs, which focuses on collaboration, consolidation, and innovation across security agencies.
Responding, the FRSC Cross River Sector Commander, Corps Commander Innocent Etuk, commended the visit and reiterated the sector’s readiness to collaborate on initiatives that drive regional security and economic development.
