A Kaduna Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday sentenced a 22-year-old Point of Sale (POS) operator, Janet Vincent, to sweep the court premises for 40 days for stealing N250,000.
The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, handed down the sentence after Vincent pleaded guilty to the theft charge.
Emmanuel said the punishment was intended to serve as a deterrent to others and warned the convict against committing further offences after completing her sentence.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Leo Chidi, told the court that Vincent committed the offence on October 5 at Ungwan Maigero, Karji, Kaduna.
Chidi said the convict stole N250,000 entrusted to her by her employer for POS transactions.
He said the offence contravened the Kaduna State Penal Code, 2017.
