Nigerian billionaire businessman, Femi Otedola, has hosted a dinner in honour of Lagos State Deputy Governor, Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, reflecting on a friendship that began nearly five decades ago when they shared a bunk bed at boarding school.
Otedola shared the story in a social media post on Monday, October 19, 2026, describing Hamzat as someone he had known since their school days, long before their careers took different paths.
According to the businessman, the two shared a bunk bed 49 years ago.
He also spoke positively about Hamzat’s character, pointing to qualities he believes have remained consistent over the years.
The gathering brought together prominent Nigerian business figures, including Aliko Dangote and Abdul Samad Rabiu, adding to the significance of the occasion.
Hamzat has served as Lagos State deputy governor since 2019, working alongside Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
His relationship with Otedola dates back to their time as boarding school students.
The dinner offered a glimpse into the personal relationships behind Nigeria’s business and political circles, with Otedola’s recollection highlighting how a friendship formed during their school years has endured for almost 50 years.
