A Jos Magistrate’s Court has sentenced a 26-year-old driver, Kabiru Haruna, to six months’ imprisonment for breach of trust.
Haruna pleaded guilty to the charge brought against him by the police. Magistrate Irene Pati sentenced him to six months in prison, with an option of a ₦50,000 fine, and ordered him to pay ₦170,000 in compensation to the complainant.
The prosecutor, Ijuptil Thlawur, told the court that the case was reported at the “C” Division Police Station on September 26 by Abdullahi Musa.
Thlawur said Haruna had linked Musa with a prospective car buyer who paid ₦670,000 into the defendant’s account. However, Haruna allegedly withdrew ₦220,000 without the complainant’s consent.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened the Plateau Penal Code Law.
